[QUOTE="nimatoad2000"]the forcing of bible teachings in texas, and especially this, make today an embarrasing day to be a human being in the year 2009nimatoad2000
You know you just equated "forced bible teachings" with rape and forced stravation, right? Do you see I problem with that. nope, they are both horrible and are both steps backwards in humanity.OMG. your talking about: Texas Legislation Would Mandate Bible Course Elective in Schools? The key word there would be ELECTIVE. Nice try.
We're all bashing the Afghan government for something that we would consider morally wrong, but we have to understand that they are at a different stage in their cultural development. If we look back to our own history, there were plenty of decent people who wouldn't think twice about slavery or public lynching. We can label it barbaric and backwards all we want, but we must face the reality of the fact that Afghanistan is not where we are today socially or economically and thus cannot be held to the same standards.
Most of your reactions to this are not unlike those of the first explorers of the new world labelling its inhabitants barbaric because they did not share the same customs. While I being a westerner do find the new law appalling, I do not feel that I have a right to judge it because I do not understand the cultural undercurrents motivating its legislation.

I like your thinking.
So is it morally okay? It's called ethnocentrism. using values and norms of your own culture to make judgment of other people's culture.
Hell yes, I want another tragic terrorist attack on my country that will kill thousands of people and put us in another war! THATS what interests me! :roll:enterawesome
