@mogan: Diversity should not be a check box. If anything thats the last thing that should be on a creators mind. What matters is making the characters actual personality and writing a good story. You can worry about their skin color, sexual preference and so on last since thats not should define the character.
Amazing to me how much people complaining of “pandering” are completely missing a MAJOR theme of this cyberpunk word: Transhumanism. That we are not bound by our biology, but that science and technology can allow us to be whatever we wish. That means a prosthetic Mantis blade arm for killing or a prosthetic, softer bit for loving.
This was also a part of the original cyberpunk world by Mike Pondsmoth as he explains: "At least for Talsorian, we always had kind of a generally progressive leaning anyway. A lot of this is kind of like, 'yeah, we were doing this back in the '80s.' We had transgender people running around in Cyberpunk in 1989...because my friends are transgender. So what's the deal? Why not? But that's not preaching -- this is the world I see."
I’m talking storytelling and world building here, which is separate from their views on the importance and strengths of having a diverse staff.
What these people are doing is equal to a white person going into the street and yelling "I have a minority friend" just keep your mouth shut and just let things be organic. Also the devs specifically put down other developers that they feel "sexualize" females. So not only do they look stupid but they are being assholes to others.
wow these guys are a bunch of hypocrites. I guess the twitter mob got them afraid to make the game they want to make. Also they did a nice job putting down other developers cause they dont follow what they think is the "appropriate" way of handling female characters. I hope there are no ripped shirtless guys in their game since that would be inappropriate at least according to them.
