I'd have to agree with the review and say that an 8 out 10 is a fair score for the game. It took me about 12 hours to complete it alone, the visuals are beautiful, and I had fun. But it's probably my least favorite in the series because the game seemed to be design for co-op and then adjusted for single player. There were several times where it was incredible frustrating and I really wished I was playing with someone, but on the same tolken I'm glad they didn't burden us with an AI partner.
I didn't really enjoy the weapon building system and universal ammo. I understand why they did it, but it just takes away from the survival part of it. They have the Classic version in the game + section, but I wish that had been open from the beginning rather than require us to beat the game first.
I hope that when they make Dead Space 4 they will take more from the first one and return it to its survival/horror roots.

I had thought that this series had fallen into obscurity. I'm glad to see that someone is trying revive the series.

I don't know of this guy has ever played a video game, but holding down a button and pulling a tigger are not the same. A video game can't prepare you for the kick back, the sound, or the weight of a gun.

Reading comics back in the '50's didn't make kids delinquents anymore than Catcher in the Rye made Chapman shot John Lennon. The only thing to blame is the man holding the gun.

The major problem is the publishers. It want to 'reach a broader audience' and that means making game more accessible to the FPS crowd. This isn't just happening to survival horror games though. Mass Effect 2 & 3 both pulled away from it's RPG roots in a huge way. The Elder Scrolls went from being the video game version of D&D to overly simplified. In the publishers race to match CoD's success they are killing the uniqueness of the other genre out there.

As a girl , I can't that I'm particularly offended by this torso, though I understand why a lot of ladies were. As a customer I definitely wouldn't want it, especially at the price they would be asking for it. It just seems like something you would buy as a joke.
