Here is the Crux of the situation and where imho I believe Sony strategically positioned themselves in the market.

1. The next gen games for XBOXx are going to have maxed PS4 Pro ports also, not counting SOE or Microsoft exclusive's and yes I think the XboxX will be slightly to possibly moderately graphically then the PS4 PRO edition of the game , Just as the PS4 is slightly better on average to the XBOX 1 graphically in general.. But not enough to make most people dump there newly bought PS4 Pro.

2. Enter Sony with PS4 PRO and double the GPU power and Higher clocked CPU.. Which at the time of release seemed almost a waste as many games did not embrace it fully.

3. But the tables have turned with now 2 consoles that support Semi-4k ...

4. In many articles developers are waiting to really push the PS4 Pro with concurrent development of games for XBOXx as it just did not make financial sense before when it was only the Ps4 Pro that would see the benefits , just like Witcher 3 is getting a fully enchanced PS4 Pro redo along with XBOXx.

5. It a win win for Sony as so many PS4 pro have already been sold and if you already have a PS4 Pro your chances of buying into a XboXx are pretty low... That is were Microsoft dropped the ball, being slow out of the gate. That being said it's still a big win for gamers on both platforms and consoles in general.

6. If I never bought a PS4 Pro I would be buying a XboxX simply put.

7. I bought a PS4 Pro so the upgrade to a XboxX is worthless to me, especially since I have PSVR along with a lot of other PS4 Pro owners. Sony pre-grabbed a good portion of the market share with the Release of the Pro.

8. I'm looking at this as a honest assessment, I could not make sense of the Pro at first and thought it was a waste but I sure was wrong. I now see there was a whole marketing plan behind it with them hedging on collapsing Scorpio sales early on.

Sorry for the ramble.

All I see is a win for the console community in general.

Another thing is the investment of the TV itself it cost as much as my whole PC, A good 65" 4k True HDR certified 10.0 with Dolby Vision 2.0 is 1,500-2k plus , Cost me 1,800 for my LG. If you want to go 70/75" your talking 3k-6k

If I got into the brass tax of the numbers, not counting games, just gear ..I have over 3,000$ in my console and that don't count audio setup with a fully featured Wifi/Bluetooth Reciever and 7.1 surround setup. I'm digging a little into the weeds here but what I'm saying is console gaming is not cheap either.

And that is only a PS4 Pro/PSVR setup/and a 65" 4k truly HDR certified TV.

If you don't have 1k+ minimum to spend on a decent 4k true HDR TV , A PS4 Pro or XboxX is a waste, wait till you can afford the display.

@iknowthepiecesf: Well partially wrong imho, 1080 is a standard new buy card a lot would op for the 1080ti. 16gb ram is sub-par on a new pc these days, I have 16gb in a 6+ year old pc. And even with the 1080 it has a minimum of 15-25% more overclockability then what it is currently set at.

And they think the XBOBX will run 4k native, with all settings maxxed. I don't think console only owners know the amount of power it takes to run Tru-4k with all settings maxxed.. One reason I still love the PC over my PS4 Pro is the myriad of graphical option's a PC user has besides resolution get that perfect balance.

/Sigh

The truly sad part is console fan-boys will be uspet about this and shocked :P

One thing us Pc gamers know is the amount of brute power needed to game in True 4k resolution with 16x AA on along with all effects maxed out. It's why 95% of use don't game at 4k, we know the sweet spots..

That's coming from a Pc gamer and Console Gamer.

@andyvecc011 Keep waiting silly ,

My ps4 pro setup with a good 65"tv and Vr cost me over 3.5k way more then a insane build like this on the x299 platform and this is a broad spectrum cpu that covers all bases of heavy use.

@sellingthings Aye, i run 6+ year old i7-920 cpu on the x58 platform, oc'ed to 3.6 ghz and can run 10 Eve accounts at same time using only 82$ max of the cpu. The Visuals are turned to high and 1920x1440 across triple monitor setup with 970gtx ftw ed oc'ed also, in Short I will get 7-8 years out of my pc with only a video card update, one power supply change and a couple pci-express cards for sata III and USB 3.0.... Very happy with my investment....

So far way more of a value the my ps4 then ps4 pro w/ 2,000$ 65" LG 4k HDR 10.0 and Dolby Vision 2.0 Tv...

Console only people just don't get Pc's , for the record I play on both platforms.. but my best value by far has been my pc.

@dirtyvu: You are a complete fool that either A. Does not have a gaming Pc or B. Has a Pc and Zero Pc gaming friends online, that chatter about there rigs and setups on Teamspeak, Discord, Mumble just to name a few..

It laughable you actually believe what you said here ..."The average system RAM is 8 GB. The average GPU RAM is 1 GB. Go look at the Steam charts. You don't know what people use?"

To answer your question,

Yes I do and Pc gamer's are not gaming on 1gb Gpu ram , rofl you think there using a less then a gtx 260 , give me a fuc#ing break and 8 gig of ram? Laughable, walmart pc? , My old x58 platform i built over 5 years ago has 16gb Triple Channel ffs..

@dirtyvu: Your a idiot. The 12gb GDDR5 ram is split system wide on the Xbox X ,with 9gb max that can be called by the gpu if it's avaliable. The UI is allocated the other 3gb. Unlike in the PC were the average gamer has 16gb-32gb system ram and 8-12gb ram on the gpu itself that cannot be pulled for other purposes and on top of that and SSD's. And lets not even start on CPU's.
