Curse you insomnia!!!

It's times like this that I really hate living with the family. Everyone is in bed and all I wanna do is rock out to GH 3. But sadly I must wait until they have at least woken up. They don't even know it's in the house yet lol. Has anyone had any issues with the WFC on Wii?

To The Cartridge Crowd...

How about we all gang up on all of these "hardcore" gamers? The ones that tout Halo and Metal Gear Solid as if they were Gods sent down from Mt. Olympus? Now, not to say these games are terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but what happened to the days when games were just played and not debated over? When games had a very simple storyline, games weren't denounced because they didn't have voice acting and they didn't have to be gigantic and epic and life-like to be a great game?

And no, before anyone starts, I'm not talking about Nintendo games exclusively. Games like Earthworm Jim, Toe Jam & Earl, Ecco the Dolphin, Sonic, and even milestone games like Adventure on the Atari were all great games that I imagine someone whose first game system was disc-based won't be able to appreciate. I can imagine one such person looking at a game like Toe Jam and automatically dismissing it for it's vibrant colors and funky theme.

I even hear such things at my work place that frighten and worry me about how games are perceived either by kids or by other adults. I heard someone suggest SSX Tricky on PS2 for someone, one of the highest scored games on Gamespot, and the response I heard was, not word for word, but pretty much: "It's rated 'E', it can't be good." Has this seriously become what games are seen as? That it must have something even slightly inappropriate to be a good game? Now I don't think inappropriate things should be removed from all games, some games use such themes to tell stories that can't easily be told in other mediums, but it worries me that some people think a game must be violent to be good. Take as an example, Rayman Raving Rabbids for about every platform under the sun. It may not have scored very high on any system or website, but it was noted for having the unique Rabbids characters and even was nominated for such an award here at Gamespot.

Point is, I think people need to get over wether a game needs guns to be good, or wether a console is for kids or wether it must involve drugs, whatever it is, people need to remember that the point of any game is to have fun. If you can't even do that without flaming someone else who enjoys such and such game, then do me a favor and take up something new.

Beaten game

I feel so accomplished today. managed to beat Geist at around 9:30.

I should've thought up this beaten sign long ago. :-D

New Reviews: Sims 2 Pets and Geist

Just FYI, I've got two new reviews up on Sims 2 Pets for Wii and Geist on GC.

And for those that haven't noticed, I have over 50 reviews total. I think that means I officially think gaming is my life :-p

Gaming Present and Future

So of all the games I've tasked myself to play, I've completed a grand total of zero. Keeping me from the Wii or even my DS have been work, the boyfriend, and World of Warcraft. It's not like I haven't played anything at all. I continually play Mario Strikers Charged, I've gotten thru I think half of Geist and I have two hearts in Super Paper Mario. It's a slow lengthy process.

Now, due to my insomnia at the moment, I've gone ahead and scoured the upcoming Wii titles thu the end of the year for anything that sounds buy-able for me. Starting with this week's heavy hitter, Metroid, here is that list in chronological order:

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Tiger Woods 08

MySims

Dewy's Adventure

Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire

Spider-Man: Friend or Foe

Crash of the Titans

DK Barrel Blast

Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal (a wascawy wabbit with a wevolvah?)

Spyro

Zack & Wiki

GH III

Simpsons Game

Manhunt 2 (only after I hear about just how gruesome it is from others)

DDR: Hottest Party

BWii

Ghost Squad

Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn

MOH: Heroes 2

Lego Star Wars Complete

Super Mario Galaxy

RE: Umbrella Chronicles

Rayman Rabbids 2

NiGHTS

Soulcalibur Legends

Trauma Center: New Blood

 Star Trek: Conquest

 Mario & Sonic @ Olympics

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

SSBB

Bully

No More Heroes

Now as always, there may be some sleeper that will amaze and astound (Psychonauts on XBOX for example) and then make me feel inclined to invest.

Pokemon FC

So I went out and bought Pokemon Diamond. Shame on me. Especially when I already have so many other games to play.

Any rate, my FC for it is as follows: 4596 6658 4625 I also have a copy of FireRed, but I'm nowhere near finished with it at the moment. Please PM me if you have Diamond or Pearl so we can exchange codes.

Gaming Frenzy!

I'm gonna blame this all on Mario Kart DS. Curse you portable multiplayer! YARRRGH!

Anyway, I've been revisiting a few older games as of late. It started with Mario Kart 64, then it became Starcraft, and now I'm playing through Zelda: A Link To The Past, and Super Mario Bros. 2 via GBA cartridges. I'm sure if I had money to burn I'd also be buying a number of games on the Virtual Console but bills are... an annoyance to put it mildly. Not like I don't have enough games to beat anyway... let's go through a list:

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance

Baten Kaitos Origins

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and The Lost Ocean

Chronicles of Narnia: Lion, Witch & the Wardrobe (it was a christmas gift)

F-Zero GX... I'll probably never beat this one heh

Far Cry Vengeance (I know it's bad, but I've been on a collecting binge lately)

Geist

The Godfather

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life

James Bond: Nightfire

Zelda: Link to the Past

Zelda: Collector's Edition (save for Ocarina and Majora but I might play them through again any way)

Medal of Honor: Frontline

Medal of Honor: European Assault

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Star Trek: Elite Force 2

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (I can only do this when Aspyr makes it a Universal game so it runs much better on my Intel Mac)

Super Mario 64 DS

Super Mario Advance

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

Viewtiful Joe

Wave Race: Blue Storm

*whew* I have quite a time ahead of me without paying for new games hm?

Web Site Update

Just a quick update on my website (which I need a catch-name for, any suggestions?) It has now expanded to include nearly 230 pages and is closing in on 1000 hits on the home page. The site is divided as such: Welcome (Home) About Me Blog (in drastic need of upkeep) Music (featuring 113 pages, one album featured per page) Movies (featuring 75 pages, one movie/TV season per page) Games (featuring 35 pages, one game per page IN PROGRESS, currently featuring Wii and GCN games only) Photos Links So, as you can tell, the podcast I had The No-Name Podcast, has bit the dust. I just don't have the same drive to do it, nor was I getting much feedback, nor could I find a solid framework to form a base, much less any listeners. I also ran out of space on my iDisk and currently lack funds to increase the storage space. Instead, my site will offer my views on music, movies, and games without any marketing ploys. I've created my site using iWeb on the Mac and based the design of the site after Apple's own design philosophy of simplicity. If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve it (or maybe has an idea for resurrecting my podcast) don't hesitate in informing me.

Next-Gen Truly Arrives

The Next-Generation of video game consoles has finally arrived at my house with Nintendo's Wii. There was a lot of fun with our family of five (two 41-year-olds; me, an 18-year-old; a soon to be 16-year-old; and a 13-year-old) just with creating our various Miis. We then pulled out Wii Sports, and while we were only able to get one Wiimote (and no more nunchuks, we found quite a fun (and tiring) time playing those games. So far we've also screwed around with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Trauma Center: Second Opinion, and both seem to be fairly good games. We did get Zelda as well, but I asked that no one play it since I want as little spoilers as possible concerning the plot. Tomorrow me & mom are going to one of the malls and grabbing more Wiimotes and (hopefully) more nunchuks. Maybe I can talk them into getting Excite Truck or Rayman: Raving Rabbids. Both appear to be very inviting games. Oh well, more Wii playing for me to do! :-p
