or he could just get a plasma and have superior color, while not having a bulky tv. PLasmas are just as expensive as lcd tvs and they last just as long. I watch blu-ray (1080p native) on my 720p tv and i dont notice anything wrong.

What plasma are you refering to? If you are refering something like a Pioneer or a high end Panasonic, those are more expensive at the screen sizes of the DLPs. If Plasmas are at a similar price at a similar size, I would rather pick that over a DLP. Also front projectors can project a much larger picture than the sizes of the DLP tvs or plasmas, and know some of the models outperform them, so the real issue people face is brightness, since it is harder to see it during bright conditions than it is to see a plasma or a DLP, but keep the room light controlled, and you should do fine. The reason I do not have one is that I can't afford one right now that is a 1080p, so it is money saving for me. Also projectors with their ability to project a larger image show the benefits of 1080p much easily.

I got the newest high end plasma for under $1000. You don't know how to shop.

DLPs don't give as good picture as the new plasmas, or even LCDS.

What model, or brand is it? Also what size is it? I doubt you could find a Plasma or an LCD that can outperform a DLP at that price, let alone screen size.

My 61" Samsung LED DLP (HL61A750) on Amazon = $1759

Pioneer 60" KURO PDP-6020FD on Amazon = $4999

I seriously doubt the 60" KURO can be purchased for anywhere near what I purchased my DLP at. I'm also willing to bet money that my profesionnaly calibrated LED DLP will match or beat *ANY* LCD in terms of picture quality.

Will the KURO have better picture quality than my DLP? Yes. But it is not $3000 better. Not even close.

that last satement is pretty much subjective, as someone with that much money would probably think the difference is worth it. plus you have to add in the cost of having your set calibrated by a pro, the extra space you'll need, tv shelf that can take more weight and yea. I wouldn't ever go with a dlp, espeically when i could get a 50" plasma for a good price and be completely happy.

Where did I say hard for a PC to outperform a PS3? Where did I say a good computer costs $2000? I'll tell you where. Nowhere.

If you actually took the time to read what I said, you would understand (or perhaps not) that I was simply implying that I don't know what specs he is running on his PC, and to offer a blanket statement inferring that the PC will be better may not be true.

It is conceivable to have a PC in this day and age that will under-perform when compared to a PS3.

my comp is 7years old and can still run current games, unless his computer is from the 90s, i dont see how it wouldnt perform just as well.
