i dunno if its being made anymore, but i heard of a home theater in a box pioneer set that's only 90$. although it uses weird speaker connectors so you can only use those provided with the set.

Plasmas are great for Movies and such...not something I would game on (personal Preference) Although Its twice as expensive, I'd rather have a Samsung 650 series LCD than a panasonic plasma. Its a pretty stunning TV no joke.anti-xbox

exactly what kind of plasma tvs have you been looking at??? Go to bestbuy.com and look up samsung lcds and plasmas and youll see that lcd is more expensive.

you could just go delete the file and see if the game still works afterwards. also, some times these kind of programs will say things are malicious when they aren't really.

[QUOTE="Bulldog19892"]I'd rather see more of the Euphoria physics engine.AnnoyedDragon

Euphoria is not a physics engine, it is more like an add on than a actual engine. Besides Unreal Engine 3 uses PhysX natively, so Euphoria won't be in its games unless specifically licensed separately.

euphoria is an AI and animation engine. it does all of this on the fly so you get much less events that seem scripted. TBH, cryengine2 physics impress me more than any of this ageia stuff.

[QUOTE="DanielDust"]Nvidia wasn't working on a system they already implemented it in the 8800 cards. Nvidia Quantum Physics and we will have to wait for a driver from Ageia for them to make them perform even better (they say).AnnoyedDragon

Quantum physics is not something Nvidia has been working on, it is simply the application of CUDA for physics acceleration.

Without an engine to work through it is useless, that was Havok but after they got purchased by Intel it became Ageia.

ageia has shown nothing that impresses me...................firebreathing

Then what does impress you?

DMM kind of impressses me, but in the force unleashed it seems most of the material vanishes before it even hits the ground. From what ive sen of ageia videos, these "destructible objects seem to have prdefined break points and not be too dyanmic at all. if you could show me some video footage of something more dyanimic that'd be cool.

I actually don't like Havok, they sat on their butt for a couple of years with their little monopolisation of game physics. I think the whole PhysX incident left a bad taste in peoples mouths; it worked out for the better in the end as it prompted people to hardware acceleration, but it is going to take a while for people to learn to respect Ageia.

They are a powerful and widespread physics engine, just not as popular as Havok.

AnnoyedDragon

if you go to havoks website you'll see they have a bit in the way of improved physics ;)

This thread seems to be full of Warhammer fans. Lets put this in terms of the games. Not which universe started when and who owns the rights and errrrrrrr... If you base it on that, then Blizzard used the warhammer universe better than games workshop. People basing their arguement on which universe is more 'true' just shows they aren't comparing the games. They're fanboys.

Starcraft - An RTS which revolutionised the way games are played. The game is still played today competitively. Yes 9 years after release. We can talk about the voice acting, graphics, and gameplay until tomorrow and still won't cover just how great the game is. One thing that starcraft did to me that no other RTS has done is the fact that I loved all three factions. I could play any of them and think, woah these guys are awesome, why? Because each of them are completely different, in terms of unit structure, tactics and gameplay. Can't say the same for any other RTS.
Furthermore Starcraft is considered by MANY and I mean MANY to be the best real time strategy game of alltime, if not the best game ever period.

Now lets look at Dawn of War. It's a good effort. The graphics were really nice, and you can customise the logos on your units. Wow thats something games rarely have. However what else new does it bring to the table.. The way the buildings are created looks really cool... But I can't think of things that Dawn of War has brought that makes it so great. In my opinion alot of RTS seem to screw up and turn into garbage. Dawn of war didn't screw up and turned out to be pretty decent. However decent isn't power overwhelming awesome. It is a good game, but in my opinion it isn't anything groundbreaking.

Starcraft - Gamespot score - 9.1, Critics 9.2, Community 9.3.
Dawn of War - Gamespot score - 8.8, Critics 8.7, Community 9.1.

D3RV

isn't anythig groundbreaking? I guess your resource gathering (which is STILL present in SC2) was completely taken out of DOW because why???? Or maybe we can point out that dawn of war 2 will be more squad oriented so you arent forced into the manotomy of churning out units??? I can see how going with the same system (even after 9 years) is ground breaking, while others who choose to branch out with other ideas are simply "decent".

[QUOTE="Skullheart"]

Well generally speaking, World of Warcraft was much bigger than Starcraft ever was online (maybe not in Korea ;)). Considering the anticipation for Warhammer Online, most people will be leaving World of Warcraft for Warhammer Online. This doesn't guarantee it will be a kick ass game, but there's a very good chance that it will.

Chris23

HAH! Are you nuts? No one will leave WoW to join Warhammer Online.. They might try Warhammer Online and maybe play both but no ones gonna go "Hey Warhammer Online is out, lets quit our WoW characters that we've spent months/years developing and play that instead."

WON'T HAPPEN! WoW has such an enormous fanbase and the game is just addicting. Not even GW can compare. Most likely WoW will win out and only be surpassed by it's sequel.

I tried Warhammer a couple times and found the gameplay to be fairly mediocre in comparison to SC. All the races felt the same. The polish and balance just wasn't there. Not even in the same league as SC.

I hope that blizz can recreate the feel of the original with SC2 while still bringing something new to the RTS genre. A SC with just updated 3D graphics will not be enough. But blizz has never let me down and I don't expect them to start.

Go Starcraft 2!

Edited for spelling...

they could sell their wow characters on e-bay genius.
