The show was kicked of by this Dark Match in which the crowd was enthusiastic and there was alot of support for funaki and whenever KC got any offence he was booed visciously. In a very surprising outcome, Funaki came out on top in a decent little match.
Funaki d. KC James ** 1/2
SmackDown!:
The Miz made his way to the ring with close to no crowd reaction as Smackdown was preparing to air. As his Entance finnished, the smackdown theme and video hit the titantron. The opening pyro was amazing (took me by surprise).
The boogeymans music hit the speakers, strangly though, he didnt get a pop quite as big as Benoit or even Regal :| . His entrance was awesome and the pyro was red hot. Although he is definately showing an improvment, however slight in ability, this match was terrible, like all Boogeyman (or even Miz for that matter) matches. In the end, i beleive he won by count out, very confusing for spectators.
The Boogeyman d. The Miz * 1/2
The Crowd was hot during this match, with several lets go Benoit! chants. Benoit Dominated most of the match with punches and chops, until Tatanka in desperation knocked him over the top rop and into the outside. After Tatankas breif offence, he just about countered the sharpshooter but was again taked down with the triple german suplexes and this time he tapped to the sharpshooter. Great match and probably tatankas best yet since his return. After the match Chavo Guerrero Blindsided Benoit and hammered him with a steel chair and threw him into the ring post(getting the loudest heat of the night, Chavo Sucks chants, shook the arena) before being seperated.
Chris Benoit d. Tatanka *** 1/2
A decent match that was dominated throughout by William Regal Who got a pop (he is english after all) and there was a very mixed reaction for London. It was also quite slow paced almost entirely throughout, regal keeping London grounded with submissions and holds
William Regal d. Paul London ** 1/2
OK, so it wasnt the best streetfight ever but it was very fun to watch, seeing as how weapons where involved. Highlights included MVP throwing Kane into a Phonebox, Taunting and kanes fist smashing through the glass and smashing into his face. MVP was busted open in the match that was dominated by kane except for breif moment where MVP would use cheap tactics to turn the match his way. MVP was also busted open quite early into this bout. In what could have been a botch, Kane through the steel steps into the ring, although he through them so far causing MVP to no sell what i think was a sidewalk slam (Cant remember the small details :P ) to avoid the steps lading on his head. The match ended withKen Kennedy assisting MVP to get a win by hitting kane with the steps. After the match when MVP and Kennedy were giving kane a beat down Undertakers bell rang through the arena getting pop of the night as the Deadman ran down to assist kane. Kennedy ran away, leaving MVP victim to a double chokeslam. On the way up the ramp, The brothers of destruction both looked over their shoulders, turned back round and lifted their right arm into air, their tradmark pose sending the crowd into a frenzy
MVP d. Kane *** 1/2
This was a very short but fast paced bout which started with Helms cheap shotting Hardy. After missing his shining wizard, Hardy put together a fast paced combo of moves, dominating the end of the bout and winning in style
Matt Hardy d. Gregory Helms ****
King booker came out to his very slow entrace and sharmell screeching all hail king booker!! (me and my friend all did a bow with our arms) Finlay came out shortly after with a mixed reaction, but it was Lashley and Batista which blew the roof off in this bout. (The pyro on both mens entrance was incredible and Batistas pyro was deafening, an awesome display to say the least) Throughout the match was Lets go Bobby! chants and BAATISTAA! whenever the respective wrestler was tagged in. The match was constant back and forth action with Finlay and Booker taking the advantage midway when little batard interfered, Finlay throwing him into lashley. As batista was tagged in he cleaned house sending Finlay over the top rope and signalling the thumbs down for the batista bomb, As he was about to lift booker in the air though, Finlay climbed in and kicked him in the mid Section, and then i beleive lashley once again took him over the top rope as Batista counters Bookers trademark Scissor Kick into a spinebuster to pick up the 3 count. there was lots of near falls in this worthy main event
Batista + Lashley d. Booker + Finlay ****
Promos: (i cant remember what order some where in, so i will put them here, these do not include video promos, only live ones)
Layla comes out and trys to butter up the crowd. different peoples signs where shown on the screen whilst she commented on them. * 1/2
Micheal Cole Starts discussing Football chants in the ring (soccer) and how he didnt understand them, he then asks some fans to get in the ring and start some chants. The three men start their chants and the crowd popped and booed. quite a fun segment *** 1/2
Michelle McCool Presents the kiss cam (I found it hard to understand her accent, but shes hot and thats all that really mattered :D) ***
MVP is on the ground after being double chokeslammed and and abbandoned by kennedy. Fairly comedic with him screaming things whilst rolling around and looking at his own blood. He said things like: Im Gonna need Plastic Surgery!!, I need a doctor! Its in my contract!! *a WWE EMT runs down to the ring* Not you!! a real doctor!! *** decent
The big Dick Johnson segment was Hilarious!! he made his way to the ring in black cloths, he then ripped them off, threw t shirts in to the crowd and made sexual gestures and rubbed up against the Ring announcer (tony chimmel ?? i forgot the name) several spectators where brought into the ring to dance with him and one of them spanked him (by this point i was choking on Pepsi) ***** side splitting
*Biggest Pops:
Undertaker
Batista
Bobby Lashley
Chris Benoit
William Regal
Note: The brothers of destruction pose by kane and the undertaker got a massive pop, but alone Kane did not receive much reaction.
*Biggest Heat:
Chavo Guerrero
MVP (after his match)
King Booker
Ken Kennedy
KC James :|
Notes: I bought an RVD dragon, t shirt for £20 and a official program for £10. The show was close to perfect, no botched moves or promos.
Question to folks with the game, how is GM Mode?appaloosa582002
kind of the same as last year but with fancy fueds (storylines) velocity/heat, power 25. and a title contendership table preventing say Vito competing for the World title unless he has , say 80 superstar points at least. Its better, but not a huge leap.
[QUOTE="keiblerfan69"]Mena I need to know, Can you use your own music for CAWs?AcolyteV1It's already been confirmed, sadly, that custom soundtracks can't be used for the CAW ring entrances. Disappointing, but here's hoping for next year, huh? I shall be getting this game at 1:30pm today, so hopefully I'll be able to help Mena in answering any questions, and maybe give a different perspective on a review for you folks, too. One of the modes I'm probably likely to give a good hammering is GM Mode, so hopefully I'll be able to give a good write up for that ^_^
Ive also got the game. Haha, the UK rules.
How about..
"Really
Original
Hayabusa" With the Capitals 'R','O' and 'H' look like the Ring of Honor logo letters. lol, controversy
Or 'Paul London 4 World Champion'
Or 'I paid to see the Cruiserweight Division. Oh wait, there he is..'
BTW, where you seated?
Total-KO
i am seated there. and i really like the cruiserweight division idea, :D when i buy some large paper or card mover the weekend, i may do that.
[QUOTE="trick_man01"]I am personally against a wrestling union in North America, firstly I think that it would drive some smaller promotions out of business and secondly I think that the wrestling industry does a good job of protecting the wrestlers, many promotions outlaw the piledriver which is a very very dangerous move.Total-KO
I think the opposite because as a union, they'd be helping fund smaller feds by giving grants, and investments etc. Also, it'll be good for retired wrestlers too.
Also, I think that the wretsling industry does a bad job in protecting talent. A lot use drugs, have barely enough money on the road and I think this could help them.
i kinda agree with Total KO, this could help small companies grow.
