Might be good for MS, but its not good for the fanbase. I don't care what console sells the most, I care what console has the better games. As a hardcore gamer, I don't want a console in the mold of the Wii, I want a console in the mold of the original Xbox and 360 with better graphics and performance.
That is why you can have a system like the Wii that has 25 million more consoles out there but only managed to shift 100-170 million more games than the PS3 and 360. Over the last three years, Nintendo has continually lost its grip on the market, in both hardware and software. In the end, the better games is the deciding factor because the consumers that regularly spend are hardcore gamers...not casuals. Besides that, the money is in software sales as almost all consoles sell at a loss. Even the Wii did before early price cuts.
Everything you just said about the game is subjective. Besides that, did you even read my comment? I admitted that those other games look better. I'll elaborate, I'm getting other games first and foremost so I'm not sitting here saying "zomg GoWJ is awesome!" You sure you replied to the right comment?

Doesn't seem desperate to me. Including for free a game you can buy a physical copy of for under a dollar online? You're not serious I hope.
The thing about the low pre-orders is that its launching between four huge games, BioShock Infinite, GTA V, The Last of Us, and StarCraft Heart of the Swarm. People don't have money for everything and you have to choose the best.
Most non-biased gamers will admit that all of those games look better than Judgement. But more pre-orders doesn't automatically mean better sales over the long run.
People keep missing this point. If you want to build something better, than your not copying. Copying implies you want to make it the same. Not that it matters though they did this last time and got burnt.
