Kilgrave was the only thing interesting about this show. So far, Daredevil is the only Netflix Marvel series that is really worth a shit. Jessica Jones was mediocre, Luke Cage even more so, and Iron Fist was straight up garbage.
And The Defenders looks pretty damn lackluster and cheap as hell. Hopefully The Punisher is a big cut above the rest. Hell, at least we'll be able to see Frank traveling the country and slaughtering scumbags abroad (the summary for the SDCC trailer said he was in NYC, rural Alabama, south Texas/Mexican border, etc). One of my biggest complaints about the other shows is that they all constantly take place in NYC. Just nothing but high-rises, skyscrapers and back alleys for scenery.
@zmanbarzel: Great actor? Based on what exactly? People keep saying this and I have no clue why. The extremely minor parts he's had like Heimdall in the MCU? The minor army sergeant role in 28 Weeks Later? A voice acting role in the Jungle Book live action remake? What the hell has this guy actually STARRED in?
@Terminator95: Kiddie? LOL well we are talking about comic book superheroes. Is that supposed to be serious business? Speaking of kiddie, notice how those Justice League trailers have enough jokes to fill an entire entry in the MCU? I sure did. Seems like DC fanboys are suddenly thrilled with that. Gee, I wonder why...lol.
Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) is the first person to come out on stage – showing a clip from The Punisher. The clip plays as follows: A little girl plays the guitar with Frank, a much happier time with his daughter. We immediately intercut this happy scene with Frank now alone in a room, struggling to play this same guitar – sad & depressed. We then immediately cut to a murder montage. Frank drives a van in Alabama, chasing two guys on motorcycles. He easily shoots their tires out and then redirects his van, deliberately running them over. Cut to a party – a ‘heavy’ arrives. The Punisher, on a rooftop, scopes with a rifle this same guy. The guy goes up to a room about to get some head… when ‘bam’… The Punisher takes his shot, blasting the guy’s brains on the wall. The reveal – Frank isn’t across the street but at least eight rooftops away, ten or so miles out. Cut to Frank murdering a guy in a bathroom. The guy pleads for his life – “Killing me isn’t going to bring your family back. What does it change?” The Punisher responds coldly – “Nothing.” He then immediately strangles the poor sap and walks away. Bernthal looks GREAT in the clip. Super excited for an entire show centered around him.
Now they just need to release the damn thing to the masses
Just show me the goddamn Punisher trailer! It sounds amazing!
