letter to ms customer survey

To Whom It May Concern:

Where to start? How I feel perhaps, UNSTATISFIED, DISGRUNTLED, PISSED!

I tried not to get angry at all when my second console started flashing 3 red lights; I mean that can happen... You can get three red lights twice I suppose.

I tried not to get angry when customer support accused me of lying (if your system really has three red lights it is covered under warranty,) I guess some people just don't know what customer service is.

Then I am told over a year later there is still no solution to getting my market place downloads transferred to my new consoles serial number so that I can access them when offline... The last time it happened I was credited for everything I had downloaded, but now that solution seems to have been ended. I had to re-download everything with my new MS points and a new gamer tag so that I could access them offline. Now I am told it could take more than a month or two in order to fix this problem? Are you serious?

The more I have to deal with MS the more incompetent I feel you are. Let's go over last time I got three red lights. I had near 8 reference numbers, was told I had to pay for shipping for my power supply (as it also went bad) then after I shipped it a box shows up to ship it in, (I almost loaded it with bricks and put a big **** you note in it.) I took near two months to get a replacement console then another few weeks for my new power supply. Then another few weeks to get all the MS points credited to me so that I could re-download everything but don't worry you guys gave me a good ole free month of live... That covers everything!!! Whoopitty freaking dooooooo! I prayed I never had to call you again... And then it happened... Three red blinking lights staring me in the face once again...

But yea I got a free month of live again... Wait a second... FREE??? No because of all the lost time I have had it just covers the month or so I was without a 360 in the first place.

My second three rings of light have even caused me to cancel my year subscription to live. I mean I never know how long the stupid thing is going to last. It could be a month or a year. Then it will be broke again. So what is the point in having a subscription to a service I will most likely not be able to use due to the POS continually breaking. Let's see so far I have had a broken disk tray, a bad power supply and then two sets of three red lights... Are the Microsoft gods mad at me? Do I not own enough Microsoft products??? Let's see, two Zune's, two 360's and two laptops with vista... Is that not enough??? What more do you want of me Oh High and Might Microsoft lords???

But don't worry, calm down... I got a month free of Xbox live... Oh Microsoft be praised!!!

Sincerely,

Francis Keyser

i am tired of three red lights....

My problem is the service I have received all three times I have had a 360 crap out with three red lights.

I need to know who to contact about this as the chaps on 1-800-4my-xbox are a bunch of rude douches and I feel it is time for me to be the same.

The first time I got three red lights. It took over a month to get a new system. When I did get it there was a free month of Xbox live in it... Um... It was not free I still had to pay for a month where I did not have service so that covered that month I was without a 360 but still had to pay for Xbox live. Then I sent you a new system yet you sent me a refurbished one with scratches on it. I held my tongue because at least it worked. Or I thought it worked... It broke and then I got another 360 and it worked... Oh no it did not, now I have three red lights again.

They tell me they are going to repair this one... So you are going to repair a refurbished unit you sent me? What the hell is that? When my new Honda's and the transmission broke within the first 1000 miles they did not give me a used Honda... They gave me a new one to replace it and were apologetic. You know they actually provided me with good customer service. Not "IF your system REALLY has THREE RED LIGHTS then it will be covered IF NOT we will call you and charge you 100$ to repair it."

Well thanks for the accusations of lies before you even test the system you butt heads. Why do you have to start off as jerks? Can't you attempt to be friendly?

Then for people like me that have had more than one defective Xbox don't you think you should maybe give us a bonus for sticking with your faulty hardware? I have lived through vista break downs, frozen Zune's (I will say many less than my I pod) with millions of patches because I support Microsoft Corp. Do I get anything in return? No just crappy customer service where I feel like a criminal for having another system with three red flashing lights.

Maybe you should issue a multiple red flashing light t shirt to us... or an "I bought a 360 and all I got was this three red flashing lights t-shirt"

So my problem is the treatment I (and I am sure the millions of others) receive from your customer service.

Who can I contact about this problem? My gamertag is FRANKEYSER if you need to see the 6 or 7 service numbers from my first, second sets of three red lights and my new service ticket number from my latest set of 3 red lights.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Francis Keyser

The first snow!

I thought today would just be another drab day at the office. I was so wrong! Big ole white flakes just started dropping out of the sky.

And you know what that means!

This weekend on the mountain there is going to be some awes shreddin going on! no more of that totally fake snow but some fresh powder to carve up!

I can not wait! video games get to be on hold this weekend! The snow is calling to me!

microsoft is skynet!

So this is totally odd!

I have my whole house networked. All my computers, tv's home consoles (and modded hone consoles, (the reason i own 3 xboxes is because of how easy they are to mod)) so i am use to doing everything through one tv and one system. (on of my xboxes is basically a media switch between what i want to be viewing on my tv at any given time.

but last night... i realized... microsoft is skynet!

how did i realize this you ask???

because i was watching a movie in my laptop (that is connected to my pcs and my 360 and hd dvd player through windows vista media center.) My sister came over to use my office computer to do her homework and saw what i was watching (Karas the revelation)and also wanted to see it. so i popped out the dvd. walked down stairs and popped it in my hd dvd player so we could watch it upscalled on my tv. but low and behold... as the player closed... and booted up the movie... it started playing... right where i left off up stairs on my laptop... now i am totally use to this when i turn off a movie and then turn it back on using the same player... but not when i go from one media device to another... so to test the weirdness of it. i tok the dvd out of my hd player and put it in my 360... it booted up... and started playing where i left off from the hd palyer... my sister and i looked at one another and said, "skynet!"

she half expects me to come home one day and my microsoft gang has beat up my i mac, ps3 and wii. i to am scaried for them and all of us.. because skynet fooled us all by renaming themsleves microsoft!!!

market place for the HD win

so owning a blueray player and hd player i was on the fence about who to support at first. after a few releases where i found the hd dvd format of the same movie of better quality i went hd dvd only (except for spidey 3). win disney said they were supporting blueray i was kind of pissed. I grew up on disney. bednobs and broomsticks, aladin, ect. this were the movies that my lil sis and i plopped down together taking a break from our NES to watch. But now that they are on market place i can enjoy them in hd anyway. it is not like everyday i want to watch them anyway. and i figure i am paying less than five bucks for them. and disney will most likley be selling them for around 40 so i candownload them 8 different times on the marke place in HD for cheaper than i would pay for them.

so today the score is blueray zero - market place one

poor zack and wiki this is not the fate for you.

matt at ign loves you. cliffy b at epic loves you i love you but know one knows about you.

i must say i love this game. maybe it is because i grew up playing point and click adventures like neverhood and full throtle or maybe it is because the countrols of this game are outstanding. at times you can get frustrated because the items you are using do not move the way you think they should and then all the sudden you move the wii mote the intended way and walla you have solved another puzzle. an outstanding game.

but no one is buying you.

no on even knows about you.

i walked into gamestop the day the game released. three employees were at the counter. i did nto see zack and wiki on the shelf. i did not see it behind the counter. I asked them,"hey can i grab a copy of zack and wiki?"

in unison, "what is that?"

it is a point and click puzzle game for the wii by capcom. it is suppose to be really good.

in unison, "never heard of it."

they reluctantly looked it up in the computer and see there is one copy. we search for it and can not find it. finally i find it in the used wii game section with a big new sticker on it.

they look at the cover and say, "this looks stupid, sure you want it."

i say "yes and i want to pay off my galaxy and mass effect pre orders."

I leave with the only copy at the store... and i know the empolyees will never suggest this gaming gem to anyone else. it is a sad fate for such a great game.

playing mario on the wii

So while I was paying off the pre-order for mass effect and galaxy low and behold i look over and there is a playable kiosk of mario galaxy. So i decided hmm i have ten minutes to get back to the office... i guess i will be late back to the office.

running down the road to the castle is a ton of fun. the way i imagined mario in 3-d all those years back is finally a reality. sure mario 64 was great sunshin while an enjoyable game just did not feel like a real mario game but this this feels like a mario game and looks how the mushroom kingdom should look!

the controls are very fluid and i found myself actaully saying damn this looks really good for a game on the wii. i must have said it out loud because the gamestop employs behind me said yea the wii seems to be able to handle alot more than people give ti credit for.

the cut scences are top notch. something i find very strange for a game that does not need cutscens. i mean it is a plat-former. plat-formers are not known for there epic story cutscenes. but these are pretty up there. the characters are very well designed and brought to life. the animations are very fluid and everything just has this make you want to smile feel to it. the camera does not skip a beat, always floating smoothly behind you. i never found myself (in the demo) wishing that it was at a different angle. the only reason i wished i could control the camera was so i could get a better look at my gorgeous surroundings. sometimes i did not want to be able to see where i was going i wanted to see what i was going by.

I cant wait for my pre order to get in so i can play this game in its entirety.

the wii is really main stream... and that is wierd.

so i thought it was odd that the ps2 was main stream... i mean you go over to someones house that knows nothing about games but they have, GTA or madden....

now everyone that comes over to my place... women included sit down on my couch and "say oh my god yo have a wii! It is so much fun to play!"

They dont notice my nice 1080p tv... they dont notice my 360, my ps3, my custom pc hooked up to my tv, my blueray player or my hd dvd player... they notice the little bitty wii that is so small it blends in with all the other electornics. it amazes me.

I love that little white box and have a blast playing it btu it is so odd to own something so main stream. my father is hunting down one for my mother for crying out loud. She tried it once at my place and now she wants one.

the oddest of all... I am at gamestop picking up my bioshock collectors editions whenever that had come out (august i think) i ask the guy at the counter, "have anything new in because i see your shipment just came in." he syas, "nothing special," then bends down really low and whispers like it is a crime, "we got three wii's in the back man if you want one, we have not even scanned them into inventory. Immidiatly someone behind me says they will take one.

I get out of the store and i try to think of who wants one and has not got one. i call my freinds frank and melanie. Melanie tells me she has to balance there check books. Later in the week i notice they have one and i say, "oh so you had enough money?" melanie says, "no we didnt so frank went to money tree and got a loan so we could get one since they are so hard to get." i stood there mouth hanging open... i could not belive that someone would do such a thing. it amazed me. frank is still saving up for a ps3 but he was willing to get a loan at a rip off interest rate just to get a wii.

this system is out of control! i think it just might be taking over the world... at night i catch it menacingly eyeballing my ps3 and 360 with a erry blue glow!

beware the wii!

California Senator Leland Yee

so California Senator Leland Yee called me today. No joke. I am at the office and I get a call from senator yee... I was thinking yea right i pick it up and start talking to him and sure enough he is on the phone line. he is telling me he does not like writing emails and prefeers talking over the phone or face to face because it makes it to where people can not disassociate from waht they are saying. he and i had a little chat about our opposing opinions of legislation dealing with game ratings. it was informative and civil and i rather enjoyed it. being that he is only the fourth senator to call me he got bonus points in my book. especially since i am not a voter in his state. good guy even if i dont agree with his polocies. if you leave your phone number when you contact him his promises to always give you a call back.
