So I've got a decent amount of money to shell out to buy a new gaming PC. However, I also currently own an Xbox 360. I have seen a growing trend of PC games being ported to the 360 (C&C 3, SupCom, rumors about The Witcher being ported) and vice-versa (Gears of War), which is making me quite frankly reluctant to shell out a large sum of money for a PC when I can simply buy those games on a Xbox. It really seems both the Xbox and the PC are going to share a lot in terms of the library of games. Therefore, before venturing into PC gaming, I would like to know if there is any news about this trend, and whether or not it will continue. I have seen the "Reasons to be a PC gamer in 2008" thread, and while the list is incredible, I am worried that as soon as any of those exclusives becomes successful, it will be ported at some point in the future to the consoles.
Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

I've been gaming for about 17 years. Here's my thoughts:
I HATE console games - I returned a free XBOX 360 and Halo 3 because playing FPS games without a keyboard and mouse is a grave sin.
That being said, do NOT get into PC gaming - it is a HUGE waste of money. Sure, you don't have to upgrade your PC with $500 - $1000 worth of equipment every year, but you'll want to. PC gaming is far more expensive than console gaming. If you are happy with console gaming at all, then stay there. Sure, you'll occaisonally misout on some good games, but the fun of playing those games is not worth the price of admission.
One big exception would be if you upgrade your PC anually anyway (e.g. software developer). In that case, you just need to spend $300 - $500 extra on a quality graphics card.
I truly hate console gaming - the graphics suck, the controls are crap, and the games are usually dumbed down. But as the years go on, PC gaming remains expensive, and the number of quality games stays low.
