to a certain extent, i don't think the poor should be abandoned i just think they aren't entitled to money and benefits as much as the middle class is, keep in mind this only applies to a post industrial society like the USA. however when it comes to people with disabilities, disorders or people shafted by life in general i believe they should be protected on a case by case basis.

in an ideal world the educational system should prevent this.

It could be your brother, it would still have no consequence. The Greeks were very fond of it, look at the Ptolemaic Dynasty in Egypt and the incredible amounts of incest. In either case, its just shades of grey judged as right/wrong based on the culture judging, and the time period.
