Why would you waste money right now on a quad core. There is no reason to get one since very few games can actually take advantage of the 4 cores.

[QUOTE="TheDuffman26"] $999.85 PM me if you want me to send the wishlist to your email so you don't have to find everything.harley93nostalg

how can i cut about 200 bucks off this build and still run games (cod4/waw/farcry/etc) at good settings?

I would say the easy way to cut 200 bucks off the build would be the graphics card. You dont really need a card like that to run cod at good settings with a decent framerate. Its a little bit of overkill. You can find a good card for around $100 that will be able to run those games with decent settings. I would suggest looking at the ati radeon 4830. Its $89.99 right now. It wont beable to max out everything but it should still look good. The other thing I would look at would be the monitor. You can get a pretty decent for around $100 dollars. Its really up to you your going to have to sarafice some performance for the $200 cut back.

I have done some more looking around, and I asked my friend who built a pc last year what he thought. Here is the revised plan. Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3P LGA775 Motherboard - Retail - $136.49 (free shipping) http://www.mwave.com/mwave/SkuSearch_v2.asp?SCriteria=BA31203 Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 CPU - Retail - $159.99 http://www.futurepowerpc.com/scripts/product.asp?PRDCODE=CPIN-RE8400&REFID=FR CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit - Retail - $84 without $20 rebate (free shipping) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145220 ASUS HD 4870 w\DarKnight Cooling System - Retail - $164.99 without $30 rebate (free shipping) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121288 WD Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS 640GB HDD - OEM - $69.99 (free shipping) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218 Antec Nine Hundred Mid-Tower ATX Gamer Case - Retail - $88.54 http://www.provantage.com/antec-nine-hundred~7ANTG049.htm Corsair 550VX 550W PSU w\Active PFC - Retail - $79.77 without $20 rebate http://www.provantage.com/corsair-cmpsu-550vx~7CSMC05H.htm That would leave me with cash left over for a monitor and other peripherals.

Well I built my first pc about 8 years ago now its pretty much junk. I am going to give it away to a friend of mine, so I started looking around for new parts. I'm really behind on alot of this tech but here is what I came up with so far. Any suggestions would be helpful. Case-COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 MB-ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard Vidcard-SAPPHIRE 100259-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 Power Supply-Rosewill RP500-2 500W ATX12V v2.01 Cpu-ntel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz Memory-G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 Hard Drive-Western Digital Caviar RE2 WD1601ABYS 160GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Monitor-Acer X223Wbd Black 22" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 2500:1 Drive-LG Black 22X (CAV) Os-Windows xp Im tying to stay below $1,000. If you think I should change something let me know, I have not done this in a while.
