Crazy 51

As previously mentioned, I went to the Fallout 3 midnight launch Monday night / Tuesday morning. I got there at 10:30 expecting some sort of line, but I was lone until around 11:30. It was quite boring so I watched youtube videos on my iPhone. Since I'm now jobless until I move back to MI next week, I'm able to play as much Fallout as I want. I currently have 50+ hours in and I haven't beat it yet. I can accept the last quest at any time but I've been doing most of the side quests. I think I only have 2-3 left. I'm sure you've read everyone else's impressions so all I'll say is it's an amaaazing game. I plan of finishing it off tomorrow, which means I won't really have anything to play, until next week anyway. I've been thinking about checking out the Penny Arcade Adventues since I love the comics and I tend to love RPG's. I'll look at the new releases tomorrow and see what I can find. (I just hope I don't end up picking up the Guitar Hero: World Tour bundle!)

Waiting for midnight launches

Waiting to go to a midnight launch is always kind of exciting. I drink of a bunch of stuff that'll keep me pumped, then go wait in line for an hour, talk to some nerrrds, come home and be amazed by whatever game I get. This midnight launch ofcourse is Fallout 3. I talked to the wonderful James Logan on the phone not too long ago and he was telling me all about the game. I was practically drooling the whole time he was telling me about it. He mentioned I should do a 24 hour marathon for it, and I agreed, but then he thought I should enjoy the game without any interruptions, and I agreed. And besides, text marathons aren't fun for anyone. I got introduced to a new band today. They're from Canada and I'm not allowed to say the same here. So go here: http://tinyurl.com/5jq7t7 and listen. They're like Ratatat. Have I said enough? Is it time to go to the midnight launch yet? Yep. Bye.

LittleBigPlaneting

I went to GameStop to pay off some pre-orders and it turns out they had LittleBigPlanet in! I was a little disappointed by it in the beta, but now that I can get everything it's fantastic. The game has kept a smile on my face all the way through so far. I don't think the servers are online yet so I can't play anyone elses levels, which sucks, but hopefully they'll be up Tuesday or Wednesday. But not like that matters because I'm going to the Fallout 3 midnight launch Monday night so that's all I'll be playing for, hopefully, a long while. I need more LBP, bye!

Edit: I forgot to mention that I have an extra pre-order bonus key for LBP. It's the Kratos costume. Anyone interested?

My spot is being hit hard!

I'm taking a break from Fable II to blink for a few minutes. I went to the midnight launch and I was number 7 so I got in and out quickly. At about 12:14 I got home and popped it in and needless to say I didn't sleep much. The Wesker and Justin Calvert randomly jumped into my game today and that was pretty fun. The camera in co-op isn't great, and you can't travel very far from your partner, but splitting loot, taking on quests, and farting in sequence in front of large crowds is mad fun. I (ofcourse) made a lady Fable character and am going for the good reputation this round. It's not as easy being good as I thought it would be, but that kinda makes it more fun. I already can't wait to start a new game to see how the world changes. But enough! I need to get back to the game so I can hopefully finish it before Fallout 3! Get the game so we can play!

And best of luck to EightBitWarrior's mother.

Dead Space is good - Confirmed!

I'm on chapter 11 out of 12, I believe, and I can already tell this is one of the best games of this year. You could even say it's the Bioshock of 2008. Golden Axe: Beast Rider on the other hand.. not so good. It's such a typical hack and slash game, just going from one area to the next killing annoying enemies. The level structure is so dated. Just about every area you're in you either need to kill all the enemies to lift the gate to move on, or find a pressure switch to open the gate. When was that ever fun? The story is completely lacking as well. Right now I'm in this dead place and I have no idea why. From what I understand, I have to collect all the pieces of the golden axe so I can save some lady race? Or something? The beginning cutscene is basically all you'll get story wise. So far the bosses are all the same, and the combat seems like it was ripped out of Heavenly Sword. Enemies will either throw a blue, green, or orange attack at you and depending on which they do you can press the left bumper to counter the orange attack, right bumper for blue, and either for blue. It's fun for a while but now it's just monotonous. A big focus of the game is riding beasts, and they're all pretty much useless. The enemy AI is brainless. The character models look unfinished. Ramble ramble ramble. Bottom line, don't pay more than $20 for Golden Axe: Beast Rider and go pay $60 for Dead Space.

Stalkers on the rise!

I purchased S.T.A.L.K.E.R. the other day at Fry's and I have to say, it's pretty awesome. I haven't played a game like it before and the setting is getting me ready for Fallout 3. I'm finding the game to be a little tough though. The AI isn't totally stupid and likes to flank me, and last night I ran into a group of 10 mutant dogs, all ready to tear my face off - which is what they did. I fell in love with the shotgun in that game though. It sounds so mean!

Today is the 14th, which means the flood of games is beginning. I've been looking a lot at Golden Axe: Beast Rider. It looks pretty good and early reviews and previews aren't too negitive. I might pick that up today. Wait.. Isn't Dead Space out today? D'oh! I'm so sorry bank account!

Bad DLC on the rise?

As I've been scrolling through the lists of DLC on XBL and PSN and I can't help but notice that there is a load of bad DLC out there. I have three games in mind here, Pain (PS3), Tales of Vesperia (360) and Soul Calibur IV (360, PS3).

Pain is a downloadable game on PSN that originally came with only a single level to play, along with some different modes to dabble around it. The only good DLC that has come out lately has been the new amusement park level. Other than that level, Pain has a number of characters that you can download for 99 cents each. Why pay for extra characters? Eww.

Unfortunately a game I love is guilty of sour DLC. The latest DLC for Tales of Vesperia has been character customization packs ranging from 200-300 Microsoft points. From what I read, which could be wrong, the pack comes with three items to equip to that character to make them look different along with three titles. Why dish out 300 points for something silly like that? There's also been cooking supplies, synthesis kits, money, and level up packs available for download. I didn't pay to level up my character in World of Warcraft and I'm not going to here!

Soul Calibur, oh Soul Calibur, when will you let us download Darth Vader (or Yoda for that matter)? Basically, all of the DLC for SCIV has been kind of lame. With two equipment customization packs and now weapon sets for 300 points each, it's just kinda bad. I've purchased the two equipment packs out of curiosity. The first pack gave me equipment I never noticed on my list, and the second one gave me Halloween goodies which all look doofy. Bottom line, just give us Vader and be done.

Who's buying this stuff and feeling good about it? For shame!

Bioshock for PS3

My interest in Bioshock for PS3 is growing daily. I beat Bioshock on the 360 three times and I still have the urge to go through the game again. With the PS3 having some new content I'm totally interested. I just played the PS3 demo and I don't know if they added detail to the game or if I was so oblivious to it all, but noticing the picket signs at the beginning, listening more closely to the atmospheric sounds, and listening to the tapes again makes me stoked about that game again. I actually don't remember too much about the story other than the major plot points, so I'm seriously considering purchasing Bioshock for the PS3, which means I'll have it twice, which means I'll totally love that game, just like everyone should.

cheapHopes

I went out and bought Dark Sector today. Don't "ew" me just yet! I found it for $20 and so far it's been absolutely worth it, though I would say I'm happy I didn't pay $60. I'm about half way through it already and I'm really enjoying it. The pace of the game is slow like a snail. I think it's because of the character movement speed. Seems kinda sluggish. Having lots of fun removing body parts with the glaive though.

I've also been sitting of the edge of everything I've been sitting on waiting to see if I get a LittleBigPlanet beta key. Ark!
