Sure audio and good gameplay help alot. But the real reason that immersed us back then is because that was cutting edge then. We didn't know any better. Once your eye gets use to a certain standard it's a lot less immersive to go back period.

Are you effing kidding me?

After I finished Crysis last year, I started playing Fallout 1 and 2 for the first time.

I was just immersed as I am with any game I enjoy.

No I'm completely serious....and glad you're enjoying them, but I know I couldn't.

This is the sort of argument I would expect from a console user.

TreyoftheDead

Wii owners wouldn't argue that. Don't you understand...PS3/360 fanatics are all about cutting edge graphics. That's why they don't like to look at Crysis screens. It ruins their console experience.

Oh come on. Graphics matter period. It helps immerse you in the game. I can go back and play old school 2d's but old school 3d's before last gen....no! It is literally annoying.

And I just said that I am currently playing System Shock 2 and I am just as immersed in it as I am when playing modern games. Graphics help, but there are so many other more important factors. If it were only graphics older games would have failed to immerse us even back then.

[QUOTE="full_disclosure"]I think it's the PC fanboy's upset with Bethesda for bring the elderscroll series to consoles. Then doing the same with Fallout. Now anything they make hermits will relentlessly attack! Oblivion is a great game period. Don't let these coke bottle glasses wearing fanboy's in their mothers basement influence you in anyway...PLEASE!Tony-Harrison

That isn't it at all man. Oblivion is casual to RPG gamers. Have you played any hardcore RPG's before?

I played and loved Morrowind. I personally think oblivion is alot better. If you're talking about PC specific RPG's then no, but what exactly makes them "HARDCORE"?

If EA wants to port it I don't see why Valve wouldn't let them. No work and more money. Sounds like a plan to me!
