Because you have to buy a new motherboard and maybe a case if you want to. Nick3306well i would not need a new case, i recently moved my PC in to a Coolermaster HAF 922. That should pretty much fit any new mobo.
[QUOTE="galacta552"][QUOTE="wis3boi"]So what would you recommend? Purchasing a new motherboard? No, there is not a good enough reason to overclock your i7. Dont waste money on a new mobo when you cpu can still play every game available. Plus ur case might not support atx i know my old dell didnt so you might need a new case. Bottom line, keep ur stuff the same as it is now. I want to do that but i have been told several times that not overclocking an i7 is a total waste of its potential power. Yes i can run all games but why not grab some extra frames in the ones that dont run as well as most? (Crysis, Metro 2033, etc.)it's usually a bad idea to tinker with a name brand system, you have locks, and then unlockign them (usually not possible) and result in issues.
