honestly man, the best thing for a late-teen/early 20's person is to just live a life of "poverty".

I have a degree that (according to everyone lol) warrants 40k a year starting, but I make about 17k a year, love my job, and I barely get by. But I am incredibly happy.

Money is good and all, but personally I feel at a young age you need to experience life just barely over the poverty limit lol.

It teaches moderation, and more importantly an appreciation for money.

Yeah, that is very true. And coming from an Asian-American family where the pressures to major in business, medical, etc. are very high, its difficult for me to major in a field like History. If you don't mind me asking, wtf do you work as with a college degree that only gets your 17k a year? Is it an NGO or something?

I try to double money by investing in forex and stocks, don't try without learning first.

Blubadox
Yeah I've been interested in stocks but I still have very little knowledge about them. But apparently I don't have to worry about them until I save up about $2,500? Please, enlighten me.

Save it until you see something you think would be the most beneficial to you in the future..

Xx_Hopeless_xX
That was a very simple and obvious piece of advice, but it was still helpful and something to think about. Thanks.

I'm a 19 year old (community) college student and within the past year, largely due to having a job, I've got a decent amount of money saved up.

What do you guys from your experience is the best advice to spend/save money?

I got the final bid for $68. Not bad huh? Normally I would be weary of buying it at such a price but I was optimistic because the seller has 539 reviews with a 100% rating.

Of course there is a downside to the bargain price. The original manufacture date according to him is June of 2008. I am aware of the fragile nature of the early Xbox 360 consoles in regards to RROD. Should I be concerned? And in the case that an RROD occurs, I know there is a fix available. Is that fix reliable and will it renew the Xbox's lifespan?

I also have another question regarding playing my Xbox 360 on my LCD monitor. What adapter do I need to use? Is it DVI to VGA? This is the monitor I have:

Hope you guys can help. Thanks.

I plan on purchasing an Xbox 360 for the upcoming Super Street Fighter 4 from craigslist mainly because I'm trying to cut the cost.

My question is: What should I be looking out for to minimize the chances of RROD or other hardware issues?

I have seen some Xbox 360 elites for the cheapest at about 165$ (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/vgm/1680193963.html)

Are Xbox 360 Elites RROD free?

and non-specified Xbox 360's running for the lowest at about 120$ (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/for/1680183274.html)

Before purchasing one, I plan to ask the seller questions which is why I came here. I know there are different chipsets or something which I should look out for... Hope you guys can help. Thanks.

I use Chase Banking... Is there any overdraft forgiveness for the first time? I'm pretty pissed.

I don't know. For me Half-Life 2 was a tedious experience. It felt like it just kept dragging on and on. The story was pretty cool and I was interested in the characters, but I just couldn't get into it. The best thing I liked about Half-Life 2 was the last level. It did a great job of creating the feeling of suspense. I have yet to play episode 1 or 2 but will probably give it a shot.

I think a big issue was the gunplay. It didn't feel satisfying to shoot something up.

But seeing how many people have said its one of their top games, I guess it goes to show how different people's tastes are.
