It means your PDA has been updated, if I remember right. You'll have something like a new journal entry to read if you open it.

Speaking of journal entries, I hope the new chapter in the series returns to the journal of TLJ and not Dreamfall. Not that the entries in Dreamfall we're bad, they we're just much shorter and less interesting to read. One of my favorite parts of the original was reading how April the character had interpreted the events that just occured.

ori_ranger

I agree with your thoughts on the journal entries. They were much more interesting and meaningful in TLJ. They really added substance to April's character. It would have been awesome if the same had been done to add depth to Zoe and Kian in Dreamfall. Of course, it will probably be a few years before we see anything new in the Longest Journey universe anyways. :( Especially, based on what Ragnar Tornquist blogged about being insanely busy with Conan and all the other projects he and his team are working on.

Journal entries definitely added depth! It drew you into the game world and also added longevity to the story line complimenting it well!

The Dreamfall journal entries were a bit short more like cell phone text messages but to be fair, Dreamfall gave its atmosphere with its engine and world rather than with TLJ's extra packing such as Journal entries and books to get you into the story. Guess thats what advances in technology add or maybe detract from the gaming experience!

Got Deus Ex to work perfectly on my Dual Core system!

Run the game,

Press the windows key to bring up the desktop with Deus Ex running on the taskbar,

Press Ctrl Alt Delete and bring up the Task Manager,

In processes find Deus Ex.exe and RIGHT CLICK and select SET AFFINITY,

Turn off one of the CPU's (Just leave CPU 0 checked),

Click OK and close the Task Manager then Maximise the Deus Ex program,

Enjoy!

If not a Denton then maybe we will play as a Mech like Navarra or Gunther!

Other than that maybe we will play as the first Nano Augmented agent that went AWOL! I mean if that happened then obviously it would be seen as a failure and the powers that be would then call Paul Denton the primary, to pretend like nothing went wrong!

Actually now that I think of it, wasn't Walton Simons the very first Nano Aug agent??? Maybe I've got that wrong, but I think he may have been!

I've heard that Funcom are in some kind of talks with Valve to release the episodes through Steam!

What do you guys think about that?

The Dreamfall chapters will end the longest journey storyline so far as we know it.

My feelings on the mmo are uncertain. If they can pull it off great. I only fear that its really all just a cash in. Funcom said if they decide to do it it definitely will most likely be long afterr the chapters come out. THis idea is more of a 7-10 years down the road deal. Thats how long it would take at least to finish up TSW so thay can start on the chapters and finish them. Personally I would really like to see the chapters go to gametap as well as standalone pricing model in the same vien as the new Sam and Max series. Gametap is one of the best places to thrive when it comes to episodic content. But yea so no telling how long TSW will take to finish, much less to start andf finish the chapters. Could be even more than a decade for an mmo to come out of all of this, considering development time is usually 5 years for an mmo.

But a TLJ mmo is not destined to fail. Theres hope seeing as how it's going to be a long time before it comes out if it comes out this means there will be plenty of time for the mmo genre to grow and revision itself. Look how much the mmo world has changed since only 5 years ago. In 10 years this could be completely doable.

I would very much like to see the story finished first even if its in episodic installments!

After that a MMO would be fine! To be honest though I don't think the PC has a life span extending beyond 10 years, considering the childish & mindless proliferation of the consoles!

Was thinking lately! Deus Ex IW was a major disappointment but someone said that it was the most disappointing sequel ever! Don't forget Metal Gear Solid 2, that has got to be up there too!

Deus Ex is crap?! Wow...that's a first.

[QUOTE="ct1615"]

Deus Ex 2 is awesome, one of my favorite games of all time. I did not care for the first one though. I don't know what you guys are smoking about not liking Dues Ex but you are all wrong.

Deus Ex2 = Gold

Deus Ex1 = pure crap

now go to your corners and feel shame, your opinions are for fools!

=P

gamespotsnn1

It isn't a first to me, but I still don't agree with what they have to say. Seems a bit like trolling if you ask me. I mean they could at least give us a good reason as to why they have that opinion other than "it's pure crap, you have foolish opinions, and I don't care for it".

Guess it would be like me going to a Half-Life thread posting how much I hate it, then sit back and watch them all freak out!

PS: Don't hate the HL series so much! Just can't see what all the hype is about!

Trying not to let this Thread die! Keep posting people!

The story lines in TLJ and Dreamfall are two of the best I've ever experienced in a game. Great writing that keeps you wanting to play and know what happens next. I enjoyed TLJ more than Dreamfall, but both are very good games. I would definitely welcome...no, I would love to have a third game in the series. No MMO though. I really don't like MMOs. I've played several and they just get boring too quick. I like story/plot driven games. If I could play another game in this series, I would just want it to continue and build upon the story line that's been laid before.iwokojance

Definitely feel the same way!

There is no way that a MMO could emulate the same immersive storytelling that the series has shown so far! If a MMO comes out, well and good but it should be after the story has been completed! I don't mind the series being continued in episodes so long as we don't have to wait too long between them!

"If you do like reality especially hardcore mod"... what the hell does that mean???

That means that hardcore mode changes everything in the game and makes it very hard compared to the normal way of playing the game. You don't know all the time where your enemies are, if you get shot in the leg you fall (but then again that isn't realistic isn'it?) ou can get one shot one kill ( not real either because how can you get killed in real life with one bullet, no?).

Weapons are crap? LOL you haven't played many games if they are crap and the same. If you think they are crap then play FFoW and then tell me what you think about the weapons. And you do have a major problem with it if you consider it a 6.5 or 7 game, makes me wonder how much would you rate FFoW :) i rated it 7 and it's crap compared to COD4 which i rated 9.5. To each his own i guess, but for me COD 4 is the best so far, with ETQW and TF2 :) BF2 is carp, Half Life 2 the same, Crysis crap of the year and so on.:)

DanielDust

It take it that English is not your first language!

Anyway, lets answer this in sections! YES you can be killed in real life with just one shot! Most combat deaths are the result of a single injury! You have watched too many movies!

I wasn't talking about weapons in general! I was talking about CoD4 only, I didn't mention any other games so I don't know why you did! My point is the weapons in CoD4 are all the same. They look different and have a different sound but they do the same amount of damage are all hopelessly inaccurate!

I have been a gamer for 23 years and have played hundreds of games on lots of different platforms, and own many consoles! I have played lots of FPS games also, so I know what to compare to CoD4, and it is nothing special!

Last of all CoD4 is a good movie sure, but as a game it scores 6.5 maybe 7.0!

Yeah it's not. but i started to learn it since i was 4 and it was about 12:30 AM when i wrote that, grammar is the last thing on my mind after 7 hours of school more than 3 of homework and a few of games :), when i see mistakes i correct them but i don't always bother to, so sorry if i didn't write something clearly enough or not close to your standards.:)

I mentioned another game because in contrast COD 4 has the best feeling to it's weapons, they are the same, some, but almost all of them feel different and inflict damage different and i think the weapons are too accurate even without the accuracy perk. I'm not saying that all the weapons are 100% different but compared to (yes i will mention another game) BF, it's way better. For me compared to COD 4 Battlefield has only one weapon with different visual additions.

Wasn't criticising your grasp of the language! Was just a little confused by your comments!

The weapons are only accurate in single shot & when using a combat sight! Otherwise they are laughably bad! As for feeling different, they all feel the same and inflict pretty much the same damage, that's a fact!

If you want a game where it makes a difference which weapon you pick, then play Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter! In that game each weapon is unique and feels like you are actually shooting! Also the enemies don't spawn endlessly and it takes some skill to play, not just holding down the fire button permanently like in CoD4!

Alternatively you could play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. its got some of the most realistic weapons around!
