Err, single player maps are usually designed to be like a line where the end of the line is the end of the level.

Multiplayer maps (usually DM oriented ones) are circular, like an arena.
Single player maps in MP would be extremely unbalanced and one sided.

Also, one of the complaints of Quake 2 was the lack of MP only maps.

Nope arena maps are for newbies, boring simplistic maps smoothed off for noobs

Quake 2 had MP only maps PLUS single player maps use able for MP.

dev's dont have enough time to make a large amount of online only maps

So they might aswell give you the option to use single player levels online as deathmatch maps, but also use the maps they created for deathmatch.

Being able to use single player based levels as deathmatch levels, but also having deathmatch only levels

is better than only getting deathmatch only levels it means there's less levels to use for online play in general now.

Old first person shooters you could deathmatch on the single player maps, but also the games had maps made only for deathmatch.

Nowadays you cant deathmatch on let's say halo's single player levels like you can on quake 1 or quake 2's single player levels.

halo only has maps made for deathmatch, quake had maps made for deathmatch but you could also deathmatch on single player levels.

There's been many single player levels ive played and ive been like damn this would of been fun online, but nope fps today suck LOL.

If this team was still at idsoftware who did quake 2 or quake 1 level design.

They'd own all the crap games out there today,

Damn this sucks if idsoftware still had these people doing the level design their games would be better.

tim willits is still there, but it would be better if other dudes were helping.

You know what's funny? my friend who had the 1080p hdtv and xbox360+ halo 3 and let me load up all the maps and do a walkthrough.

He used to play quake online with me back in the day, but i said dude these multiplayer maps suck ass on halo 3 and he said yea these maps do suck they feel restrictive compared to quake too many invisible barriers and crap and just boring design for most map plain.

halo 3 sucks, my friend has the game and a 1080p hdtv, he had halo3 running upscaled to 1080p, but he was just fixing some food and he was letting me load up all the multiplayer maps halo 3 shipped with i ran around the maps just to check em out i thought they were all pretty much boring as hell in design.

I want duke nukem forever or doom4, more than halo reach, but halo reach is about the only timed exclusive i want, hopefully halo reach comes to pc because aim assist sucks donkey sacks
