@wiouds: I agree that there are some benefits but these could easily be catered for by an annual DLC or paid update as the game engine and most of the mechanics mostly remain unchanged on a yearly basis. My gripe with this is that we pay a full title price for what is essentially a slightly updated version of the current game you own.

@Collie_Lover: Sorry for the late reply. I can't speak for the PS4 as i currently don't own one. However, the online on the Xbox One & 360 runs very smoothly. The online on the PS3 was ok considering it was free but match making did take considerably longer than on the 360, and i had more issues with lag etc.

You can check out my blog on why I came back to Nintendo you may find some reasons you can relate to there. http://www.gamespot.com/profile/blog/why-i-fell-out-of-love-with-nintendoand-came-runni/26075191/

Although the games library is a little thin, the first party exclusives offer more than enough to keep you entertained. Contrary to some of the comments its not all about platformers... however to enjoy the Wii U you are going to have to like Nintendo OPs as third party games are in slim pickings.

These would be my recommendations

Platformers - Super Mario 3D World, Rayman Legends, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush, Yoshi's Wooly World

Action Adventure - Legend of Zelda The Windwaker, Hyrule Warriors, Most of the Lego Games, Assasins Creed Black Flag, Zombie U

Puzzle - Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

Racing - Mario Kart 8, Sega All Star Racing,

Fighting - Smash Bros,

Plus there are some gems on the eStore that should also be considered.

I like all of your ideas except the paid online subscription. I have an Xfinity cable TV router that I pay $40/month subscription for. It seems to work really well, but I know what critics are saying about Super Smash Bros. Wii U and lag. Splatoon runs flawlessly for me 99% of the time, even when paired up with Japanese gamers, but Smash can occasionally be a minor problem online. I am not very technical with computer specs, and conversations about power don’t really mean anything to me. So I don’t know if I have a good wireless connection or not, and 1080p/60fps capability is fine. Games have looked good for me for a long time, Nintendo really delivers for me in the resolution/graphics area.

Do console companies have to spend a lot of money for a good on-line experience, like Splatoon let’s say? Do they have to charge a lot for a good online experience? Are the other console companies doing online really well for the subscription price? I am asking because I have never paid the extra fees, and I don’t know if it is worth it.

I am happy with almost any of the main games Nintendo makes. In addition to what you said, I think it would be neat to play Professor Layton or some other 3DS games that were never available to the Wii or Wii U.

I am going to be open minded about the NX, and I think Nintendo is going to surprise us. Game cartridges would be fine for physical copies.

Although some games run well online, the overall online experience is an area where Nintendo really needs to up its game in. Voice chat & party creation are essential to the online experience. Otherwise you may as well be playing against the COM. Also if we were charged a yearly subscription like MS & Sony, Nintendo could sweeten the deal with some free virtual console games like we get on PS+ & XB Live

Nowadays you have to pay to enjoy the full benefits of both Sony and Microsoft's online services so there isn't much difference between them now. However, when the original PlayStation Plus was free the servers, match making, voice chat etc were noticeably inferior to Xbox Live at the time. So I would say that it was worth the extra $40 a year.

I think that overall I would prefer cartridges to discs we have probably come to the point where blue ray discs cant match them for storage or readspeed.

If Nintendo wants to grow up and let grown up gamers play how they want to play (adult-oriented communities), then I wouldn't mind paying for that service.

And the day Nintendo goes all digital is the day I stop supporting Nintendo.

For me the day that any console goes all digital would be the day i stop supporting them.

If they want to remain family orientated, thats fine, but there should be provisions for adults who want to interact with other online gamers.

@trugs26: That would be cool as long as we get more than 32 gigs. Or if they move to a cartridge based system perhaps you could insert the cartridge into the controller instead. Wouldn't have to get off the couch then haha

@Jaysonguy: Could always get one second hand. There are plenty flying around...and the original info on the NX was that it was not a direct replacement of the Wii U, although I do think that it will inevitably replace it.

I would get a Wii U as Collie_Lover said the NX probably won't be released for at least another year, possibly Christmas 2016.

Theres a number of great first party games, some of which have been mentioned above. Check out Captain Toad, Pikmin 3, Hyrule Warriors and if you missed it on the gamecube The Wind Waker HD.

@beastmodeboy: thanks! It's good to have different options especially when Sony and Microsoft seem to be doing pretty much the same thing as each other in terms of games and game play.
