If i delete the fifa 11 game save and then enter the game again, it reads the disc, but then doesn't load it and crashes again. It also reads DVDs fine, just checked.
i was playing fifa 11, online and the connection was bad, the game crashed and i couldn't do anything, so after 5 minutes i switched off the ps3 and when i turned it back on it isnt reading discs anymore. i deleted the game save as EA saud it could be currupt and it started working again for a little while but it broke again after it half loaded up. HELP?
It isn't as prominent as people on this site make it out to be. I don't know a single person that even knows what YLOD is.

I'm nonetheless interested in the cause of YLOD, wether is due to inherent console production faults,
end user lack of maintenance, or a combination of both.
well, it issony'sfault really even though they have never admitted it. You could say it is lack of maintenance, as most of the timeit is dust build up in the fan making it work less effective causing over heating. Or it could happen if it is on for long periods of time. both of these surely should have been stopped bysonyby now but they have just ignored it. (I got LYOD a few months back, and i researched into it quite a lot)

YLOD is the over heating up of the insides of the playstation so that some of the solder connecting the electronics melt and when they cool down the do not connect properly.

I still need to completely beat the second game still. I'm just on the last few races and haven't felt the need to beat them yet. it's fun but can get frustrating at times. I know what you mean. I still have like 4 races left to beat but the time trials are really, really hard. I am taking a long break from the game before going back to it and trying to plat it.
has to be one of he hardest/longest games to plat. I considered but gave up soon after I properly realised to challenge.
