I guess at least 50% of games are purchased pre-owned? Thats a shit load of revenue that doesnt reach the developers / publishers hands. Anyone got any real statistics?
@Marcusraitor @garysingh34 @Kravyn81 How so? Who plays MGS online or the original COD MW anymore? How does the difference you make justify the way developers wish to control being rewarded for their work?
@Kravyn81 But you have to appreciate you never own the product, you only licence it, so they do have a say over the way you use it. You just dont know that they do.
@Marcusraitor @garysingh34 Yes thats why we are seeing a resurgence of indie games which do not have the pressure of creating triple A titles to satisfy publishers and their huge marketing budgets! Ultimately, and surely, you must all agree that its all about getting content from the developers through to the consumer in the most effecient way possible.
@Kravyn81 @garysingh34 Lol ok, consider Microsoft and their office suite, why don't we rant about them not allowing versions of their software to be sold on/traded in? Whats the difference between the developers of Micorsoft Office (or any other software developer) and the developers of games?
@strangemk1 @garysingh34 Yes I see your point too, and I too, being from the UK see an abundance of these shops. But my argument, I suppose, is one about the long term future sustainability of the industry and central to that imo is developers. I want my £'s to go on developers for producing high quality content, not greedy publishers or other, lets jump on the bandwagon intermediaries.
