The system memory that is reported in the System Information dialog box in Windows Vista is less than 4GB if 4 GB of RAM is installed. Does anyone have the same problem, i.e. 4gb installed only 3gb or 3.5gb showing in Vista, apparently you have to remap memory to get it to detect the 4gb. There is a function in BIOS that allows this, here is the link that microsoft has on their website in regards to this problem. Does anyone know if my motherboard has the memory remap feature( as there is no general name for this feature) specs for BIOS,

Phoenix - Award WorkstationBIOS,  BIOS Version 6.00 PG, SMBIOS 2.3, BIOS ID; MCP61M-AM-6A61KE11C-00, ACER R01-B1, Motherboard-EM61SM/EM61PM, Chipset AMD 1100, this BIOS is exclusive to ACER, my computer is an OEM.

Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

regards

Gerard

Yeah I understand that, thats because there are more bytes, 1mb =1024kb or 1,048,576 bytes. There is a gap in the actual Memory detected on the system! I thought that Vista 32bit could support 4gb. I guess I'll have to get the 64bit version.

ah ok cool, what are people suppose to do who want to run games that use direct x 10 fully maxed. Crysis will need a huge amount of Ram to run fully maxxed, how does one get around it?

Hi guys, recently I purchased three 1 gig sticks of DDRII Ram, rated at 667mhz. When I bought the computer a month ago it came with 1 gig already. I installed one gig last week, which the computer detected. I just installed the other 2 gigs and booted up. The computer only recognised 3.5gb. Can't understand because motherboard supports up to 4gb of DDRII 533/667/800 MHz SDRAM and has DUAL CHANNEL SUPPORT ON FOUR DIMMS. I'm running Vista and have a Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 320mb and an AMD Athlon X2 64 3800+ Dual core.

If anyone can help I would be most grateful

hahaha, played Oblivion on 360, wasnt bad, but final fantasy has amazing story, cutscenes etc that really immerse you into the game. Oblivion is great but lacks an indepth block buster story.

Hey, I have just recently purchased a new PC. Major specs are,  AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3800+ *2, 2GB DDRII RAM, Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 320MB DDR3.

Can anyone recommend some games, I have been a big console gamer. I'm now looking at getting into PC games, I love RPG's, spent many long hours playing the Final Fantasy series, and basically anything with a good story.

......is there anything in the way PC games with some good stories and epic gameplay!

 thanks gerard
