This is something i have discussed before, and we all came to the conclusion that the growth of technology isnt really as big as you think. Sure, what we have today is amazing compared to 10 years ago, but it comes in bursts. What you said about all the data transfer methods is correct, but its all the same kind of technology..... wifi, infared, bluetooth etc. They are each kind of related to each other.

What im trying to get at is at around 80 or so years ago, we had an enormous burst of new technology, with America leading the way (cars, cinema, the first skyscrapers etc), in our age we have computers, the internet, the growing popularity of mobile phones and everything being connectible.

So if you look at this way, it would seem that great strides are made over long periods of time. Sure you can say that its amazing compared too 10 years ago, but its also amazing compared to 20, 30 ,40 and 80 years ago

Saying that is just like saying a Ford GT40 is better than the Model T. It is true in every sense but can anyone put down the original that made it all possible in the first place?

RPGs have moved on in 10 years, now we have Real Time and a host of quirks on the the Turn Based system. You can't really discredit the one game that expanded the RPG genre in the west beyond what it was at that period of time. All FF games have been different for me, enjoyed every single one of them, perhaps to varying degrees.

None taken. Im not saying that FFVII shouldnt be someones favourite game, Im just saying that of all the popular games i know, none have a fanbase that are so blindly in love with a game. FFVII has reached a cult statis. The fact that you said it will be the best FF of all time, without having played all the future FF games, really does prove my point.

Let's all face it, the PS2 is a great system. and the PS3 sorta sucks, meaning that no one is buying it, there are like no games for it, and they put way too much effort into graphics which destroys a lot of its ability and still lost by a lot to XBox 360s amazin graphics. Sony lost big with the PS3 and the PSP to nintendo's Wii and DS. Sony's gonna hav to start relying on PS2 until they can miraculasly pull out of this one. So yeah, PS2 has a lot lot lot lot of life left. I'd give it another 2 years probly.p59

Dude, calm down. The PS3 is still a very young system. All consoles are a lot weaker when they first arrive. They all have a limited selection of games. Programmers will learn how to program good games in time. And mark my words on this, the PS3 WILL have the best games of all the next gen consoles, simply because it has the best specs. It really is that simple. You can do MORE with it. Also, you mention grpahics..... ever looked at what used to be consider as good graphics when the ps2 first came out and what it can do now? PS3 is the one to watch
