Gaming Update - October

Two blogs in one day! I do my gaming updates every month so whatever haha.

What I will be selling:

- Battlefield Bad Company 2 (Selling my extra copy.)

- NHL 09 (Brother let me have NHL 10 after buying 11 so I'll sell this one.)

- Madden 10 (STILL trying to sell it.)

What I recently purchased:

- Command and Conquer: Red Alert Retaliation (Bought this because it said it was 2 player on Gamespot but you need system link! I still like it anyway.)

- Bomberman Party Edition (I played the arcade version when I owned a 360 and enjoyed it. This one has more features and is just as fun.)

- Warhawk (Bought it on impulse from Amazon.ca for $18. Hopefully it gets here soon :))

- Street Fighter Alpha (I do NOT like fighting games but it was on sale for 2.99 on PSN and bought it. It actually grew on me.)

What I plan on purchasing soon:

- Fallout: New Vegas (Pre-ordered this baby and can't wait for next week!)

What I am playing:

NHL 10 (Playing "Be a pro" and was drafted by Tampa Bay! Played for the AHL half the season but they put me in the third line of the lightnings a few games ago.)

Resistance 2 (Just got into the multiplayer and re-playing the campaign on hard now.)

What I need to finish:

Oblivion (I stopped playing this AGAIN! Hopefully I can get back into it and beat it.)

Demon Souls (This might take a while. I don't play very much.)

What just caught my interest:

Homefront (Just watched the Multiplayer Trailer and it looks like a lot of fun!)

Sims 3 (I'm just hoping the console version has multiplayer.)

Enslaved (So many people are telling me it's such a good game I will probably end up renting it.)

Most anticipated games:

Two Worlds 2

Brink

Rage

Fallout: New Vegas

My Adventures through Anime Pt.2

After finishing the Naruto series I thought I would give Shippuden a shot seeing as it was a sequel. I did some searching and found the first episode in no time. The change from Naruto to Naruto Shippuden was just perfect in my opinion; an older and slightly more mature Naruto Uzumaki.

I quickly finished the first 60 episodes in two weeks only to find out a new train of filler awaited me AND the dubbed episodes were only at episode 61. As I looked into this issue I learned that a new DUB episode of Shippuden is rleased every Monday, a real bummer.

I had to decide to either wait every Monday for a filler episode or watch the SUBBED episodes and learn to like it.I waited every Monday. I slowly got bored of waiting and watching episodes that had nothing to do with the story so I decided to join the Anime Cafe Union and ask for an anime that someone new to it all would enjoy.

Full Metal Alchemist.

I was recommended this anime more than the others and decided to give it a shot. FMA is about two brothers named Al and Ed who made a mistake when they were younger by using forbidden Alchemy to bring back their dead mother. After failing and losing more than they could imagine, they do whatever it takes to fix the problem.

I was instantly sucked into this anime and loved the story and characters. The art was slightly different and a couple voices were similar to those of Naruto but it was great none the less. I've now made it to episode 30 of this anime and plan to finish it when i've got time to sit down and run a FMA marathon.

I continue to watch Shippuden but without much enthusiasm which has led me to contemplate dropping it or switching to SUBBED episodes and skipping the fillers.

I've also decided to cut the amount of content on the "My adventures through anime" blogs and have decided to end it at Pt.2 seeing as I have not watched anything else and not a lot more of the ones I'm watching either.

Let's give Warhawk a shot!

So I was browsing through amazon.ca to see if I can find a good deal on something and not long after browsing I saw Warhawk brand new for $18 (including shipping and taxes).Warhawk

So I looked at some videos and screenshots of this game and it reminded me of Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 which I thought were amazing games even though I'm not a fan of Star Wars.

You've got airplanes, jeeps, tanks, dropships, jetpacks, and a whole load of things so I think it should be fun. It has 4 player local and online but no singleplayer campaign. What do you think?

Load of Hockey!

So before we went back to my place from playing road hockey my brother and I went back to his apartment and grabbed NHL 10 and 11 (he's a hardcore NHL fan) to see who was the NHL champ in the family. We played each other in 10, 11, and even 09 which I own myself.

His Team =

My Team =

In NHL 09 he won 3 - 2 in OT.

In NHL 10 I won 4 - 1.

In NHL 11 he won 5 - 2. Ouch.

What does this tell me? I need more practice.

He let me borrow NHL 10 and I've started playing "Be a Pro" which should be fun.

Next Monday is road hockey again so I think I'll challenge him again then.

My Adventures through Anime Pt.1

So for the last couple monthes I've been watching anime on my free time and I was going to post a quick blog with my opinion on it around August but things came up and I decided to hold it off until now. I will post this all in 3 parts as it's a rather large "article".

I'm going to start off by saying that I've tried only 3 different anime shows (2 being of the same series) and they are more mainstream than others. I tried to go through these shows with an open mind and tried to think of them as any other show I would watch on T.V.

One thing about anime that I noticed was that even though it's drawn to look like a "cartoon", it's only what you would see on the outside of things. I took the don't judge a book by it's cover approach and dove into my first anime: "Naruto".

Naruto

Bad choice? We shall see.

As I did some research to find a place to watch Naruto I found out that there was 220 episodes to it and an ongoing sequel with almost the same amount. I lost all hope in even thinking I could finish it, let alone get half-way but went on anyways; to experience the "surface" of anime.

After a quick search through my usefull friend google, I found a suitable place to watch at least the first 10 episodes to get a feel for what it was. This website is where I learned about "Subbed" and "Dubbed" anime.

DUBBED - English voice-overs done by a certain company.

SUBBED - Japanese voicing but with subtitles done by fanservice groups.

English being my first language, I thought I would go with Dubbed first then give Subbed a shot while watching the same episode.

Naruto2

What I soon found out was that even though these shows were given subtitles by other people (some translations being way off), it was hard to get into a japanese anime and it was going to be a love/hate situation for everyone who gave it a shot. Fortunatley Naruto was Dubbed because of the popularity it had aquired throughout Japan, so I proceeded to watch it in English.

Being new to anime means I do not know how to rate the "art" or "sounds" of a show but I mainly walked into this to see if I could be sucked into it through it's story alone. As I passed the 10 episode mark I had already been introduced to many characters and learned what they were like. I continued to watch and eventually reached episode 30, noticing that there was a good amount of character progression in Naruto; more then you would find in a kids show, maybe even shows pointed towards adults. One of the most important qualities a show should carry.

Naruto3

Only after reaching episode 50 did I notice that I had passed my expectations on how many Naruto episodes I would watch. I had been lured in without even noticing it. At one point I realized that Anime was not a "kids" genre of t.v., but a different form of art that can potray a story; good or bad. In this case good.

I continued to watch Naruto until I realized that the last dozen episodes I had seen had no real relation to the actual storyline. After some research I learned that Naruto was originally based off a Manga (something I won't get into) and it needed time to catch up to the anime.

How this affected me? Fillers.

Episodes that had no real relation to the actual storyline of Naruto and took on small side-stories. This went on for about 60 episodes and I had officialy been bore to the point where I had no more will to watch anymore. I skipped the fillers and watched the final episode of Naruto which actually continued the main story.

This led to the second Anime series I would watch. Naruto Shippuden.

Pre-ordered Fallout: New Vegas

So I pre-ordered Fallout: New Vegas from Amazon.ca a couple weeks ago and I must say I'm pretty hyped. I'll also get some extra armour and weapons for ordering it early so thats pretty cool.

Now I played Fallout 3 and It instantly became one of my favourite games of all times and still is even though I don't own a copy for the PS3 (I would purchase it if Vegas wasn't coming out in a few weeks). Now even though I'm hyped for Vegas I'm still pretty "worried" that it won't live up to it's predecessor, maybe because Alpha Protocol wasn't very good or It just isn't being developed by Bethesda period.

I'm just hoping a review and some more vids are released before they ship out, it would really help out in making me %100 confident in getting the game.

Just beat Suikoden

The review that gamespot gave this game is honestly way off. I put just shy of 30 hours into the game and sadly finished it haha. The story starts out a little cliche but it does not take it easy throughout it. You can be with 1 of the 108 playable characters throughout most of the game and BAM! all of a sudden he/she is dead.

The game has so much more in it than many RPG's have these days. If your an RPG fan I think you should get it. was $2.99 last week and 4.99 now (I think) on PSN classics.

Gaming Update - September

Here is a quick update to what my current gaming situation is and where it should be in the future. My impressions on Anime were supposed to be next but I'll be doing that after I finish watching my first anime series.

What I will be selling:

- Red Dead Redemption (Finished the campaign and reached overall progress to %96. Multiplayer doesn't really interest me.)

- Madden 10 (Still trying to sell it.)

What I recently purchased:

- Suikoden (Really good game, I've put about 12 hours into it so far and am really enjoying it.)

What I plan on purchasing soon:

What I am playing:

NEXT BLOG: First impressions on Anime

Battlefield Bad Company 2

My last blog post was mainly about Demon Souls, but near the bottom I posted a small P.S. about trading MAG for BBC2. How I loved that deal.

I'm a COD fan, mainly Modern Warefare 2 but I've played the others and liked them (WAW, MW1..ect.). Unlike COD though, I had never played an Battlefield game so I was totally oblivious to how awesome and immersive they were. The fact that you can drive tanks, APC's, helicopters, jeeps, boats, and even little Mongoose look-a-likes (reference from Halo BECAUSE I don't know what they are actually called) already blows MW2 out of the water. Aside from the large assortment of vehicles, you have a plethora of weapons and gadgets that allow you to play in a large variety of different ways.

I beat the campaign for the game a few days ago and I've got to say that it's the weaker point of the game. The story doesn't get somewhat good until the end, and that's not saying much. The best part of it though would have to be the different environments they put you through with different game play mechanics. For example, midway through the game your facing a snow storm that could kill you if you stay outside to long, so you need to quickly move from shelter to shelter (houses and the sort) or create fires of your own using weapons and the environment.

Hopefully I've gotten the message of how awesome I think this game is across to you. I could of done a review of the game but I don't think I had it in me to make one. I rarely review games and when I do it's just a quick moment I need to take advantage of or the interest in doing one goes out the window.
