oh shoot thats really good!

thanks!

but i have another questions though, can i transfer from my pc to my xbox.

because my console CANT detect my hard drive, but i can open it using my PC. can i just copy the save files to my flash drive and then transfer it to my xbox?

the files are like in folders with numerical names (or binary names) *im not so good with tech terminology

so i bought the new slim, and i used a 3rd party transfer cable to "attempt" to transfer files from my 20gig to my 250gig.

i nthe middle of the process, the transferring stopped and then i ended up buying the official microsoft transfer cable.

the problem is, the official cable would not recognize the 20G HDD!

so then i used the third party cable to connect it to my PC and used xport, it turns out that my save files are still in the hard drive.

now my question is, can i copy the save files to my USB flash drive and then transfer it to my slim?

if i can, how do i do it? just extract the files i want from the third partition into the USB? do i have to create new folders?

and which usb should i buy?

sorry for asking soo many questions but i bought the slim 2 weeks ago, and i havent had the chance to play it because i cant transfer my save files!

If it is the official Microsoft cable it doesn't matter where you bought it because like posted above the new Slim has the software built it. I'm thinking the 3rd party cable messed something up with your hdd, BUT that's just a guess. Good luck, and I would do what someone else has said and just use a flash drive to copy the stuff off your old hdd using an older 360.

ah, now i have plenty of flash drives but theyre around 500mb. will those work or is there a minimum limit?

You don't need the transfer disc with the slim, the software is built in. When you connect the USB end to the slim a pop up will ask if you want transfer to or from the console as the official transfer cable is two way on the 360 slim.

brudevo

but that message isnt showing up. i just spoke to an xbox rep and she said that the transfer kit is defective, and i should not have bought it from GS but rather from microsoft... omg... geeze ive had the slim for a week now and couldnt play it even for 30 mins because i dont have my save files.

ok this problem is driving me NUTS

i have the slim btw, and im trying to transfer save files from my 20G to the 250G

originally i bought a 3rd party data transfer cable which comes with this really tiny disk. it recognizes my hard drive but it read it as a "USB Storage". and then i played around with it and went to the option "customize" and then set the option to 16GB (i dont know if anyone is familiar with this process).

I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING WITH IT.

so ok, it did not DO ANYTHING, im not sure what i have done.

now, recently i got fed up and bought a Micrsoft data transfer cable from GS. problem is, the POS wont detect the external hard drive.

everytime i plug it in with either the 3rd party or the official cable, i hear a sound, like circuits or gears moving inside the hard drive.

with the 3rd party cable, it detects the Hard drive as a USB, but with the official cable, it wont detect the hard drive at all.

so when i plug the cables in, nothing pops up as it should do.

is there anything wrong with the slim or the hard drive itself?
