I hope Sony takes this knock on the chin as a lesson to stick to what they know, which is amazing single player experiences. That being said, I do think it was a huge mistake to charge any money for Concord. That took it from little chance, to no chance.
or warhawk lol. resistance be great online. sony needs more online games not live service games.
@simonthekid7: Someone doesn't remember or wasn't there for the anti-woke screeds that were directed at Wolfenstein II, methinks.
If you are anti-woke (not accusing, just hypothetically), and you also hate Nazis: great. But there is very much a portion of the anti-woke movement that also engages in Nazi fetishism and Hitler apologia.
I love it amti-woke equal nazi and hitler yet the far left hate jews right now so who it more like hitler lmao. so show me videos were the far right are any of those. show me white men killing jews or forming skin head nazis today. show me where anti-woke is anything like them. when the left cancel people for freedom of speech, and riot and destroy property.
@gifford38: I totally agree that there are rational and non-toxic ways to express disappointment, frustration or even anger about some product that came out or something that was done...or concern about how something might turn out in the future. Finding that rationality and non-toxicity on a gaming website's comment boards is like trying to find a marble in a kiddy pool full of oatmeal though.
As to the developers not liking their main audience, that perception illustrates some of the problem. Attributing those kinds of feelings and motives to people, the vast majority of whom are actually trying to do a good job and make something that everyone can enjoy, is a way of justifying the hyperbolic responses. It shows people are taking it too personally and are making it too personal in the other direction. It's also an expression of the feeling that is rampant in the gaming community that we are entitled to direct the manner in which the product is made in order to assure that we get what we want when the product is released...and then, if what is eventually released did not check every box on the list of demands that were made, entitled to throw inconsolable years-long tantrums in everyone's face, denigrating everyone and everything that was involved in the product and anyone who disagrees along the way. That feeling of entitlement is abject nonsense.
As to "woke", nobody is fooled about what is really meant in the manner you used it.
yes released did not check every box they loose there shit. rate the movie or game low. omg not diverse enough. take black myth about Chinese culture. deducted points for not being diverse. its about chinese culture your not going to a african person there. most people no matter race watch movies and games to escape reality and what going on today. but movie and games push narrative, agenda, politics in your face and people are sick of it. can they make something with out a check list. gay person check, strong female check, black person check or this or that check. just make a movie. no matter the race will enjoy it if its good.
(vast majority of whom are actually trying to do a good job and make something that everyone can enjoy). not really you even have the actor say I don't want white males watching my movie. hello its for people that read comic books.
but sometimes the hate is towards something that shouldn't because they feel they need to.
@gifford38: Chicken and the egg. They want to shit talk, so they shit talk to try to make things fail so they can shit talk that failure and use it to justify shit talking the next thing in an effort to make it fail so they can shit talk that failure and use it to justify shit talking the next thing in an effort to make it fail so they can shit talk that failure and use that to....
They have low self-esteem and feel powerless IRL and this is a way of overcompensating for it by bet-hedging. If they always shit-talk everything, then when something actually does fail (as is guaranteed to happen), they can tell themselves they exercised their power and influence to bring about that failure, proved their mastery and prescience by having predicted it while working to make the prophecy self-fulfilling.
The opposite...trying to bank on success and help bring it about...doesn't work the same way (failure is essentially the "default") and feels far FAR worse and disempowering when it doesn't work, so here we are, watching infantile toxicity feedback loops take over the comment boards on every single gaming site.
but I do admit sometimes its needed with what is going on to our movies and games we love. its like they don't like their main audience. MCU for example or kill the justice league. hate using this word but woke.
