@blueboyck There argument was never that gamers aren't allowed to be upset about the ending (they mentioned that) the argument was that Bioware shouldn't change the ending because people didn't like it. I agree with there argument. I personally wish developers would stop giving a crap what there fans think and just make what they think is a good game. The interactive nature of gaming tends to give it's audience a false sense of ownership of the experience and the work that was put into it. We need to get off of our high horses and realize that they are the artists and they can make whatever kind of game they choose. Catering toward your audience might be a good business model, but it doesn't push the boundaries of the medium.
I don't agree with Jonathan Blow at all about Japanese games. There are many different types of games for many different people. You can have a profound experience with games that are not exceedingly difficult. Zelda isn't a particularly difficult series but each game is beautiful and brings a new perspective to the series. That being said, I am glad he said what he said. He is challenging the mainstream and that is how new ideas are made. Hopefully this should represent the rise of new ideas in gaming.
