@gamingdevil800: nah. I think there were faction-specific missions, but nothing like actual character-to-character interaction like you'd get in, say, SWTOR.
So, there's no romance or stuff like that, unless, I guess, you roleplay it w/ another player. A lot of stuff in EVE is due to player activity, anyway (e.g., economy, all those cool stories of battles and betrayal, etc.)

@gamingdevil800: I may be wrong, but I seem to recall something about WB's license only covering Lord of the Rings stuff (not sure about The Hobbit), but not the rest of the Middle-earth stuff (e.g., Silmarillion).
I seem to recall an explanation, for example, about Celebrimbor's presence in Shadow of Mordor being possible because he was, I think, in one of the appendices for Lord of the Rings.
I think that's the reason why we don't really see Silmarillion (e.g., pre-Third Age) stuff.

That said, yeah, I'd want more LotR/Middle-earth games, esp. if they're of the quality of Shadow of Mordor (which was my personal 'GotY', as it was, IMHO, surprisingly good and ran so well on launch lol). I'm still kinda hoping for more War in the North, too, as I enjoyed those characters.
WB (or whoever is the primary IP holder, so Tolkien's estate, I guess) teaming up w/ SEGA's Creative Assembly for a Total War game would be cool, too. :)

@akhirahim: I doubt Nintendo will 'die' if this next device fails. They can still do what SEGA did: get out of hardware, and focus on software.
Nintendo, after all, owns some of the most iconic/recognizable brands/IP in gaming. I imagine a lot of people on PC, PS & XBox will buy Nintendo games.

Kinda interesting/amusing to look at specs as they improve over the years. I started gaming on an IBM XT and my relatives' Nintendo Family Computer (known as the NES, I think, in the US).
When plenty of games used to be under 1 MB and were on those floppy 5 1/4" disks. :D

Now we have games that are around/above the 50 GB range, and storage is usually measured in TB, along w/ all the other improvements that would've seemed crazy a decade or so ago.
The quality of games and media, too. Heck, just look at the typical CGI animation made these days: a far cry from the stuff I recall watching on those CGI showcase/compilation stuff (usually from films, game cutscenes, music videos and ads) in the 90s on Laserdisc. :D

As for PS: I never had my own PS until the PS3 slim, and I got that one late (2011, I think. Near Uncharted 3's launch).
Maybe I'll get a Pro, but not anywhere near launch.
I did have fond memories of playing on borrowed, or over at a friend's, PSs over the years. Stuff like Resident Evil 2, various fighting games, Fear Effect, Silent Hill, Parasite Eve (which I never finished, bec. time), etc.

I did have a problem w/ my PS3: I think the hard drive was faulty, and it started slowing down within a year of (not hard) use. Replaced it w/ an SSD. I still turn it on, every once in a while, for Ace Combat Infinity (I wish they'd port this over to the PS4 and PC). :)

@el_swanno: Yeah. The music from the original movie was great.
While I liked/enjoyed that movie, I didn't think it was 'great', tho', esp. since I really enjoyed the manga. The movie was 'too serious' and lacked the humour/moments of levity that the manga had.

The Stand Alone Complex series, IMHO, captured the 'feel' of the manga better.

@dcoutten: a single-player or co-op campaign would be nice. Preferably one that explores each hero.

I'd also like something like Starcraft 2's Co-Op Missions (which is kinda like a 'wave'/horde mode, I guess), esp. if it has progression to make your already 'overpowered' hero more OP (for Co-Op Missions only, of course).
Throw in weekly mutations, too. :)

@tsmech88: folks invested in MMOs probably only primarily play that game (esp. if you have a job, then being a 'variety gamer' may be harder, time-wise, as opposed to focusing on a few select titles)

That and you can, technically, play EVE for 'free' by paying for PLEX, which gives you a month of subscription time, w/ in-game currency.

Also, a lot of gamers are in their 30s or older (esp. if you consider the niche audience drawn to this particular MMO; many of which probably grew up during the 80s or 90s w/ films like Star Wars or shows like Star Trek TNG/DS9, Babylon 5, Farscape, etc.) , and if they have stable income, then $15/mo. isn't really much.

@brn-dn: Yeah. I haven't played CoD since World at War. I dunno how much time I sunk in CoD4: MW (boycotted MW2 'cause of the dedicated servers thing). I think about reinstalling CoD4 every once in a while, so a remaster is definitely welcome, more so if, yeah, it were offered cheaper separately.

That said, the setting looks interesting. The space flight bit could've been better (more 'hard sci-fi'? more along the lines of 'The Expanse', I guess?), but still interesting.

@Gamer_4_Fun: I'd be more inclined to think it's because old school WRPGs are more niche, than because of the game style/type.
I mean, JRPGs are still mostly turn-based affairs and they seem to do pretty well on console.

While I wouldn't buy something like Pillars of Eternity (the engine of which I think this game will be using) on console, if it's available on PC, I do think it would be nice if console gamers could also enjoy the stuff we have on PC. Esp. games like those published by Paradox Interactive which don't require much power.
If the main 'problem' is the method/s of control, then devs could always require their games to use keyboard & mouse on console (which I think is an option); kinda like how some games required stuff like the Playstation Move or Kinect (for stuff like those exercise/trainer or dance games).

@slickwilly06: Yeah, I'm looking forward to the single-player campaign. That's why I backed it during its initial crowd-funding run: for Squadron 42. The promise of 'Star Citizen' is a cool/interesting 'bonus', but I backed it for the single-player.
I miss the old Wing Commander & X-Wing/TIE Fighter & Freelancer days. If I had spare cash during Elite Dangerous' crowd-funding, I would've backed that, too.

Not sure I'm even excited for the MMO part, esp. since my 'net has always been crappy. I'd be happy if I can play the persistent stuff offline or something (not sure if you could, while I get monthly backer e-mails/updates, I rarely read 'em).
