@atownkid33 The wii and wiiU are still quite cheap compared to the x1. Price is a big part of it. Plus I don't see how the x1 really NEEDS it to function, similar to how it needed the internet to function. Its not like all thier games will need or require it.
I know the wii needs its sensor bar but pretty much all of its games use it. It was kinda like part of the controller.
@Homerj That fits with some stuff I heard, like how if you watch a whole commercial (with the Kinect as witness) they will give you bonuses or something.
In fact it makes perfect sense. They were showing off the advertising benefits of always online to companies before all this happened.
@udubdawgz @granola_goodnes @sa18 @deathblow3 with the kinect, I get the feeling they are trying to catch the casual gamers like teh wii did, while still keeping thier core fanbase. Unfortuantely for them, the price is too high for either group.
@be4rhuntr @granola_goodnes I am not sure about the government spy thing, but you are right about the offline thing.
Really my complaint is about not having the option to game without it. If it was an addon rather than an intregral part of the system, i would be more inclined to buy an x1. Since it's a package deal, I don't really want it.
@sa18 @deathblow3 @udubdawgz First off, I have no idea why they need the kinect for the x1 to function. Kinda dumb since they are seperate pieces. But given that this is still true, they should have a way to disable the mic like in the old kinect.
That said, I agree that they are pushing the kinect on people a little too hard. a package without the kinect would be nice.
