I finally got a chance to play the much awaited newest addition to the star wars franchise empire at war, I sat down to try it and what can I say I got hooked. It adds so many completely new features and options to the RTS franchise you really hsave played nothing like it. In earlier days I played a star wars game and all it really was was a terrible rip off of age of empires, completely not the case here. It has two dimensions of play both space and land space by far being my favorite the game plays with a main layout of the galaxies planets once you conquer a planet both space and land you can build buildings to increase income of for new troops as well as space-stations. I have not had the chance to play the multiplayer yet but the single player has a very impressive story line that is about pre movie 4 with the construction of the death star in game cutscenes are about in game graphics which can be very good depending on hardware, this game will run on machines that are not exactly cutting edge so those economy gamers will also be able to experience this game. Battles are fairly simple you capture points on the land and depending on how many points you have captured you can deploy reinforcements, if you have ships orbiting the planet you can periodically call in bombing runs which will destroy just about everything in its path all units have a special function that can often range from very useful to devastating. You can get heroes that also have force powers or other special features all in all a very fresh very new RTS that fans of the genre and star wars alike will both enjoy. Light side: Space combat and land combat are both very tactical and fun. Galaxy domination also a very fresh new feature that adds a good part to the gameplay. The darkside:Unit cap on battlefield can be a tad dissapointing larger scale battles would be better. Would like to see units from the previous episodes(expansion anyone?) The happily ever after: Game is defintely a good buy worthy of the attention easy to play but has a very good depth of strategy this one will hang around on the gameshelf for quite sometime so dont expect to buy it cheaply :)

As many of you may have already found out, I am a connisouer of sorts when it comes to MMO games especially when it comes to free ones, I am currently playing a browser based one that is gundam themed that is pretty cool. When it comes to free it always makes it better. I downloaded one called "maple story" that is a sort of cutesy mmo(if you have a girlfriend get this for her, she will love it!) it is the first mmo I have ever played that is actually a side scroller. I was a bit skeptic about trying it due to the absolute miserable "dofus" nonetheless, its good. It is about a 5-6 minute download, at first the program wanted to run a refresh rate quicker than my monitor handles but there is an additional "setup" program that will test various rates and then find a good one. If you have ever played ragnarok online the look is very same very clean very artistic. You set up all your login information on their website. In game it does require you to create a pin in game for some reason it is a little odd. You create a character with a few custom options, hair, face, shirt, pants, starting weapon and then you roll for you stats. You start on a sort of a "newbie" island where you learn the ropes, basic controls whats where etc........ You do quests and such to get levels and pleasingly simple system. Eventually you will get to the point you goto the mainland. Once you get to level 10 you can choose to be a theif warrior archer or mage(level 8 ) and must goto the corresponding town to do so. The monsters are all usually strange things like cute little slimes or snails or mushrooms etc. And battle is very simple and is in real time. All in all I played it for about 6 hours straight and made 2 seperate characters I would really recommend this to anyone interested in MMO's beginner or veteran alike its easy to learn and very fun to play. 8/10 Pros: Easy, friendly, fun. Cons: You cant really change movement controls, those looking for extreme depth wont find it here. Its definitely worth a shot for anyone, if you end up playin let me know your character name is and server(I started on the server with the beginning letter of "A")

Recently I wrote a well drawn together article: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/issue/19/4 Upon further contemplation of the subject, what of ol' Jack Thompson? I used to remember headlines strung out day after day about which part of the video game industry he would like to make a heartfelt attck on for whatever diluted reason he may have. As I do on most everything now adays......................... I did a google search, on Jack thompson to be specific, the first thing that caught my eye was the ever reliable(not always true) wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson_(attorney) Open continuing to the link the first thing I saw was a little about Mr. Thompson in 1988 he ran against Janet Reno as attorney(and lost) his loss towards Reno drove him to making his own user-created site, to talk **** on her. Saying such things as Janet is a "closet lesbian" and that she is actually paid off by the mafia(and who isnt nowadays?) It gets better. Jack Thompson is a self proclaimed Christian. In as much that he justifies his name calling, because "in the bible" it says its O.K. so as long as I know you are a worthless piece of scat it is perfectly fine morally(which is what its all about right?) Mr. Thompson is a wise OLD man, so old in fact that he claims before there was video games our peers or in some cases our children, brought guns to school without subjugating another child to having his face blown off. But that is just the beginning, Jack also says that the military is in it for their piece of pie as well, they use video games so that children will be immune to violence, so that they can kill without aprehension and feeling of seeing and 4 inch exit wound in a man's back. Because one kid stole a bunch of guns(which werent safely locked) from his parents and killed some other class mates, which he extensively "practiced" with he thought it would only be fair to sue not ONE, but ALL the following companies: Time Warner Inc., Polygram Film Entertainment Distribution Inc., Palm Pictures, Island Pictures, New Line Cinema, Atari Corp., Nintendo of America, Sega of America Inc. Because we all know how violent Nintendo's games are. Not for his self righteous crusade against video games, but as a hearfelt action for the mourning parents. Im sorry its sad to lose a family member but not even a million dollars will bring them back. Rockstar seems to be a favorite for Jack, he had a field day with the "hot coffee" incident(somewhat understandable) he tried to close down GTA liberty city stories because there was a parody of a fictional character named JT(jack thompson) trying to shut down the internet and being an all around pervert in the game(see wikipedia entry:Liberty City Stories parody for whole story) I won't go on about the countless other game(and game companies) he has tried to shut down, with the most part to no avail which include(but are not limited to) 25 to life, postal, killer 7, the sims and (rockstar's) the warriors. If you are interested you can read the countless other lawsuits Jack has made a stab at, and has usually failed miserably. After reading all this I can only honestly say one thing................... Jack is a dick, he is a self righteous coward, that will lash out at anything that does not tickle his fancy. But where is he now? In yesterdays news. Viva la Video game!!!!!!

I have gamed much lately, honestly I feel ashamed. the other day I was reading game informer and I noticed a bit about an mmo called "dofus" I thought it looked fairly cool and when I went on their website the game interested me. I downloaded it at home and started playing it. It sucked. The whole game is made in flash so everything is used via left click the graphics were nothing that I thought they would be I was hoping for a ragnarok-esque look but it was a birds eye view that you could barly even distinguise differences between characters. I didnt even get a battle because I got too frustrated with the interface, it is not even remotely user friendly and has very little tutorial DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! On another note I have been extremely frustrated lately, I cant find the charger for my psp and I cant turn it on. Oh wait, here it is, under the desk at my work f*uckin A, that solves that.
