It definitely looks like the PS4 is going to be more focused on gaming than the Xbox one. All the cool features like pausing games and restarting them where you left it by just pushing the PS button or watching friends playing and joining them directly from another game, looks like Sony wants to go back to it's roots of the PS2 and release a machine hard core gamers want .
games on PC and consoles need to move to a Netflix style subscription system where developers would earn money based on how much people play their games .
So if the fee is 30 dollars a month and someone has played FiFA 2013 half the time , then EA gets 15 dollars .
For the xbox 360 VS PS3 graphic debate, there is really not much to add, Microsoft has made it easier for developers to transport games from PC to console than the development kit Sony has delivered. First of all because Microsoft is a software manufacturer and there are much better at it than Sony ( Xbox live is a perfect example) But I own a PS3 ( that does not mean I think the 360 is crap ) and if companies like EA were not in such a hurry to release games, they would take the time to have a proper team for each console and deliver games that really take advantage of the PS3. A few games already are showing better graphics on the PS3 ( because they were not PC original games ) and I know that trend will continue in 2009. As for PC, great that graphics looks better on it than on the consoles, because innovations from ATI or NVIDIA comes from the PC gaming community and it should continue. PC gaming suffers from piracy ( that is not new !!!!) but it suffers from something else, not being able to exchange games or sell used games as easily as on the consoles. A lot of people have had enough to spend 50 dollars on a PC games and being stuck with it if it's bad, because no store will trade it and had no chance to try the full game before. In Europe thousands of stores trades PC games and many web site actually offer brand new games to rent with a monthly subscription. People can play full games without the risk of losing money ( if they like it they can buy it ) publisher don't have the cost of packaging and shipping and there is no risk of piracy. Something like that needs to happened in this country, because PC is the source of harcore gaming and games like the Age of Empire series need PC to take advantage of their full potential.
the 360 won the console war hands on!!!!!! because of Halo 3 ? Are you kiding me ???????????? do you remenber the movie Nemo when at the end they get out of the aquarium and end up in the ocean, after all the excitment they look at each other and say " Now what ????" Well now that Halo 3 is out " Now What ??????" Halo 4 ? Well since the PS3 has won the market in Japan and the 360 is pretty much irrelevent, we just have to wait and play Grand turismo, Final Fantasy, MGS4, Little big planet, unreal tournment, probably a tekken, warhawk 2 ( I have never had some much fun playing online with the motion sensor controler) I can only imaging how great a second one would be, When Sony in the next few months reduce the price of the PS3 and people want to play those games EA will have no choice but to do a better job and release sport games that really take advantage of the PS3, all that will happen soner than we think. Look at Heavenly Sword, too bad it ends too fast but it is the kind of games the 360 will never have, it gives an idea of what the future will be when the PS3 outsell the other platforms.
What is more clear now than ever is that the video game market does not look like anything we have experienced before. The reason why I chose the PS3 at 499.00 over the other platforms was simply because I believed that at that price it was the best value for me. I live in Seattle and I worked for a while for a company that certifies games on Xbox 360 for Microsoft, I had the opportunity to play on games months before their release and I was able to see how serious Microsoft is about its quality assurance for games before hitting the stores. A LOT of things goes into the testing and with the Xbox live server it is something Microsoft has done right. But when it came to how I saw myself playing games in the next few years the PS3 made much more sense. With it's processors the PS3 is at least twice as powerful as the other consoles, it has a mass storage high definition drive, bluetooh and USB connection, free online play, motion sensor controllers ( soon with dual shock), a hard drive you can upgrade easily, HDMI with 1080p that comes standard and a great compatibility with the ps2 games. To get an Xbox 360 that would be not even come close to it you would have to spend 449.00 plus of course 50.00 to be able to play online, which if my calculations are good come to 499.00. Well the PS3 with its blue ray player does not look that expensive anymore, does it? Yes the Xbox has some great games and after all that is what really matters, but it has been around for two years ( I started testing games on 360 two years ago), let's wait next year and after the only really exclusive game Microsoft has ( Halo) we will talk again about frame rates. As for me I know for a fact that the PS3 will be the real choice when it comes to hardcore gamers.
there is nothing to add, I am going to buy 300 blue ray version and watch it on my PS3, Oh that's right xbox 360 owners have to spend another 179 to get an hddvd.........................
I recently purchased the ps3 at the new retail price of 499 and I have to say that I don't regret one cent spent on it. I am not going to bash the 360 and the wii because I think those two consoles have their own strenghts but when it comes to value for money the PS3 at 499 is unbeatable. The version of the 360 close to the ps3 is the elite at 479 plus 50 for online gaming ( which is great on xbox live) plus an hddvd 179 well, you do the math.................... And after spending 200 more with the elite you don't even get a console that you can say is superior to the PS3. The 360 as an advantage with the games but not for long and in the next few years we will see the same games on both consoles but technically better on the PS3, the WII will have it's own market but like the gamecube, games will look more and more like old generation compare to the PS3. I love Nintendo, I played with the NES when I was little and I hope they keep making original and fun games like mario, but I don't see in the next few years the wii outselling the PS3. New consoles have to be more of a media entertainment center than just a gaming machine and at 499 the PS3 as it all.
