Hello Gamespot staff,

I am seeing more and more old articles being put back on the recent news feed with no obvious updates or edits. Unless the article received a content edit or update it should not be there, and if the article did get an update can you please provide an edit summary justifying the necro.

Here are just a few examples:

(The article below has the updated month in the title, and I cant find any edit to see whats new, most comments are 3 months old)

Totally agree, at first I thought the site was screwed up visually (missing visual assets) on my end as a result of clearing my history and cookies; which has happened to me before. The article titles don't pop with the recent changes (maybe make the text thicker or bold), and placing the picture of the article to the right instead of leading the article just means users are spending more time and effort trying to discover what each article is which leads to frustration and a lack of desire to return. And before these change I remember the news page was set to "recent" by default, now its either on updated or popular, and it does not remember my selection anymore if i change it.

spoilers in the title, "A terrifying villain who never holds a gun"

this tidbit removes some mystery from one of the villains. one has to wonder though, if the title was a little boring like: "John Wick 3: Let talk about the adjudicator, a terrifying villain." would it get less clicks? this article is only meant for people who have watched john wick 3, so naturally they would be interested in discussions about new notable characters in the movie; making the added spoiler on the end of the title unnecessary aside from making the title more catchy.

this new article is written by the same author btw. the title and thumbnail is a spoiler for the movie Venom's post credit scene. what is so hard about making a title or thumbnail without spoilers? Here Its easy: include a pic of the character venom from the movie, and the title should read: "Venom special features includes extended post credits scene."

the following links are just 2 recent examples of poorly done articles that contain spoilers in the pic thumbnails or the title/description and both articles ironically, were made by the same person.

pretty self explanatory, the thumbnail has spiderman in a death pose before turning to dust in ironmans arms, and the title says spidermans final scene. there is almost no wiggle room here to interpret it any other way, that its spidermans death scene.

This articles title and description are fine on its own, but with the thumbnail pic it isnt. Certain characters are in color and others are gray, and given the title description is all about the characters who lived and died this pic creates both fake and real spoilers on who lived and died. fake spoilers are just as bad as real spoilers, because to the the person who hasnt seen the movie yet wont know the difference. I understand that similar subject articles need different pics to differentiate themselves from each other, but this thumbnail didnt need to be so suggestive. everyone could have been in gray (although this was used in a different article), or just used a new pic from the movie that wasnt a spoiler in any way.

this article is older, and recently necro'd because infinity war just released on digital and soon dvd/blu ray. which mean come avengers 4 release in theaters both these articles will probably get necro'd again.

Not everyone has seen the movie, yet these articles are presented on the front news page for everyone to see. another example but i believe it has been taken down already was a article about the season 8 finale of the walking dead, the spoilers being a thumbnail pic of the villain Negan with his throat cut. Maybe we need a better way of reporting these articles, i couldnt find a report button anywhere on the article page, hence the long post. thank you to anyone who took the time to read this. May not seem like a big deal to some, but i believe sites like this will lose traffic if such mistakes are not corrected.

this isn't a sudden issue (it started after the site overhaul), but it has gotten worse recently imo. whenever I read an article etc.... on the bottom right side of the screen there will be a mini video ad playing, most of the time these are muted by default but recently they have been unmuting automatically when im watching a trailer or other gamespot video; forcing me to pause my video and hunt down whatever tab has the unmuted ad. sometimes they have the option to mute, other times they don't give any speaker icon with mouse over. And whenever these ad spaces cycle to a different ad there is a chance it could unmute again. the ads themselves are also crashing by grey circle of death, causing performance issues with whatever gamespot video im watching and sometimes even GCOD the video as well.

I don't have this problem on other sites, im using the latest version of internet explorer and flash.

my specs are:

win 7 64bit

i5 2500k

8gb ram 1600 (this should be plenty, im not running more than 5-8 gamespot browser tabs at once)

gtx580 1.5gb

yeah, been using this site for 10 yrs come december, and its really annoying that i cant see any game update notifications; ive even checked to make sure that im still tracking certain games. Add on top of that the UI issues like being unable to right click and new tab news articles on the far left column (you can on the center column by right clicking the image), overall it just makes getting your news/updates slow and tedious. i dont want to go anywhere else, this was so easy before, now.... if i had to use one word it would be "frustration."

same, this is pretty annoying for the past few days. First, we had the 404 error as well as getting random threads instead of the one we choose, not we get the first topic we choose, over and over. Im just gonna leave till this gets fixed, only to come back to test once a day to see if the issues are resolved.

yep. been this way for at least 15+ hrs.

while i dont always get the 404 error, my issue is when i click a thread, it opens and loads the wrong thread. glad its not just me, thought my cell phone had lost its mind.
