Sry i know these boards are flooded with these topics. I have a nvidia 8800GT 512MB OC, a E8400 3.0 ghz core 2 duo CPU, and a 19 inch 1024 x 768 native resolution (my ram is4 gigs and a 720 watt PSU so im good on that).Out of these 3 components which needs to be upgraded first?

Im leaning more towards the monitor because lets face it, its sucks compared to todays standard res. Im looking in the 150-300 dollarprice range with a 1920 x 1080 resolution.

If i upgraded the GPU wil my CPU bottleneck the new GPU? Im looking at the ATI 5770 or anything around 150-250 dollars (single card setups).

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/crysiswars/download_6206557.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=files&tag=files;title;1

Not sure if this is the right spot to post about this, but the file name anddownload size are both wrong. Misplaced patch? or is this just a typo? The patch is supposed to be like 434 MB, and is called crysiswarspatch4.exe or something like that.

Thanks if it gets fixed.

Funny!!!!! I just bought a similar setup at newegg. no joke. Same: mobo, processor. (currently shipping as i type)

video card: BFG Tech BFGE88512GTOC2E GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail (OC'd at 675 mhz) 179.99

I also got the same brand HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

^i went for the 250 over the 320 GB to save 10 bucks, but only because i dont plan on using that much memory.

For RAM i got this: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

$119.99

and i also got a 620watt power supply, same brand: CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX 620W ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick 164.99 bucks

Heatsink: artic cooler 7 pro

the rest i wont mention.

BUT IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!!!

AFTER COMPARING YOUR SPECS AND DOUBLE CHECKING YOUR MOBO I DESCOVERED YOU CHOOSE AND INCOMPATIBLE RAM!!!!

YOU NEED 1066 NOT 800!

Other than that good build, and i say good luck to both of use.

Im building my first computer, so forgive my lack of knowledge is this area.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143117

Im going to buy this nvidia 8800GT, and it says its interface is PCI Express "2.0" x16. Now I'm trying to find a intel mobo that will support this card, some say they support the new 2.0, but most only say PCI express x16. Will my card work in the non 2.0 slot? Whats with the 2.0 x16 over just x16? BTW i did check the sys requirements section, and its says a x16 slot, so now im confused and just need clarification.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Im planning on buying these parts for my new computer from newegg.com, and this is going to be the first computer i build.

Case: Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower

Mobo: XFX LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI Intel Motherboard

Proccessor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core

Video card: XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512MB

Hard drive: Seagate 500gb

RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

Heatsink: Artic Cooling freezer 7 pro

Power supply: CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX 620W

-------------------------------

of course I'm only listing the essential parts here.

Im not expecting it to run crysis above medium with no AA, etc. But I'd like to know what you guys think of the mobo and proccessor. Good? Bad? Ive done alot of research but most reviews are vague. And any tips for a first build, like what not to do? Much appreciated.

This was posted before on this thread, but since even i overlooked it, I'll repost the idea.

I went to pref's on my account---->forums>changed message sort order from oldest first to newest first---> apply changes(duh)

And now it works, I can see postings after my post. its a backwards way of viewing the forum thread but as long as i can see it i dont care.
