Do you guys think this time next year Vista will be as stable as XP?jongaska

My guess would be yes, though that depends on when the first service pack comes out. Many of the gripes about Vista are similar to those that were being thrown around when XP was first introduced, but those subsided after SP1 was released.

On a relkated note, I've owned nearly every version of Windows since 3.0 (3.0, 3.1, Windows for Workgroups, NT, 95, 98SE, 2k, ME, XP, and now Vista) and I think the people comparing Vista to ME are howling a bit too much. ME was the last gasp of an unstable kernel, something Vista is not. It does seem finicky, but once people get used to writing drivers and such, I'd imagine that it will be comparable, if not better, than XP.

I suppose I don't care either way, though I am leaning towards hoping it fails. Lore reasons aside, the lack of any sort of cloth caster/magic user seems disgraceful. I do not enjoy playing melee characters and the bard looks like a halfhearted attempt at a caster, so this MMO is not even on my radar.

Deus Ex was developed for XP systems. Vista i wouldn;t know about but im pretty sure it runs fine in Vistas legacy mode. Orpheus_1986

95/98, actually (the GOTY box is in my hand)

I had issues playing it on a 900MHz PC a couple years ago in the sense that the game was too fast. I don't know what's out for Vista as of yet, but a throttling program would probably make everything work just fine.

I disagree with your statement about Dark Crusade being demanding. Company of Heros which was built on the same engine is more demanding. Anyway, the only way to tell if the OP will work is to play the game.

ChocoKat

CoH is more demanding because it does not use the same engine as Dark Crusade; CoH is relic's first Essence engine game.

It's obviously not World of Warcraft huge, but the community feels pretty healthy in the wake of the release of Echoes of Faydwer.

Great expansion pack, and, as the poster above noted, great community (I've been playing WoW since release, and that's one of the games major shortcomings - the community is made up of puerile b.net kiddies).
