it would be preferable to use a single pc to host a match. If your playing relatively new games, you will have to have a fairly fast computer to both host and play. Good luck, and have fun at your LAN...i haven't been to one in ages

I want to say it'll probably work, but running games on multiple pc's through a server is going to make loading and performance extremely slow compared to a computer which actually has the files locally installed. My advice would be to have everyone come an hour early and just take the time to install the games on each computer.

I have a mac and a PC...only buy a mac if your going to be doing harcore video/sound editing, or get a macbook if your going to university...their battery life is really good. As far as gaming is concerned, don't think twice...get a PC.

Well i wouldn't call it the best OS ever...maybe the most acceptable OS microsoft has put out. Don't get me wrong...I still use XP for gaming, but any Linux distrobution is far superior to any Windows or Mac OS. The minute linux gets more support from developers, I'm going to dedicate my whole hard drive to Linux rather than just half.

Honestly, the entire point of a LAN party is to simply have fun. I've been to countless LANs, and every single one was just me and a bunch of my friends playing games till the wee hours of the morning. Competition will surely come up and you'll form teams, but thats simply part of having fun with the games. If you go to a LAN solely for the sake of competition then your missing the whole point of a LAN party IMO.

Thats a tough one. Both games are most likely going to be amazing but if I had to choose, I would have to go with Starcraft 2. I've started playing the original again, and it's getting me extremely excited for the sequel.

sounds kinda cliche, but give civ 4 a try it's a great game. Another one that is really really good is Galactic Civilizations 2...It's similar to Civ, but in space and you get to design your own ships and everything. It's an incredible game.

yeah if your planning on playing any games coming out in the next year....the integrated graphics card won't help. I'd say get a computer with a good card, or seperately buy a graphics card when you buy the comp. I have a 9500GT, and it's pretty good and not too insanely expensive.
