@csward: Yeah I get it. It's really too bad there aren't about 73 billion other options for you to find something you like playing. Why are you wasting your time playing and complaining about LEGO games?

The LEGO games are great, and they sell well enough to keep making them. Leave them alone and go find something more suited to yourself.

@PETERAKO: Season passes and microtransactions serve the same purpose to get the player to pay more than $60 for the game. The 2k series is not a grind fest except for one mode. There's plenty of value and tons of fun to be had with the game if you only ever spend the $60.

@ballashotcaller: After playing through Contrast and a little bit of We Happy Few, there are clearly some extremely talented, creative people working at Compulsion. Unfortunately, they've failed twice now to deliver compelling gameplay that comes anywhere close to the compelling storytelling, character work, and world building they've created. Hopefully, with the Microsoft money, they can hire a bunch of people that are as talented at creating gameplay as they are at the rest of it.

I can't really see how people are complaining about the review. Even the standard pay a little bit of the game achievements have been earned by around 2% of people. Even the positive reviews of the game have very little positive things to say about the gameplay and technical aspects of the game. Gamespot is writing reviews for the mainstream audience, and the mainstream audience is going to hate it.

@Mkeegs79: Okay, you made your point. You have no clue what goes into game development. Making something look technically impressive is not what takes a long time.

Go check out some interviews and panels from GDC. Game developers from outside Nintendo can't help but lavish praise and gush over how unbelievably impressive Breath of the Wild is from a technical perspective. One of the things that people love about Nintendo developed games is how they polish every nook and cranny of their games to a fine sheen. That takes an enormous amount of time to do. Breath of the Wild is a masterclass in game design.

It's a lot like God of War. They could have made the game looking as impressive as it did with probably two fewer years of development, but they agonized over every minute detail to make it perfect. God of War was very much made in a Nintendo like manner.
