@howmakewood: How doesn't it add up? .... well multiplied but whatever.

Let's say there was 50million unique inviduals who bought an xbox360 and out of those 50% RROD'd, this would mean 25million faulty devices leading to 25million new purchases, which would get us to 75million sold in total?

If the unique number was 40million the RROD rate would need to be 100% to reach 80million

@howmakewood: The numbers are correct.

So lets go by your numbers that the sales of x360 would be 40million out of which 50% would fail thus owners having to replace it with a new one, so that's 20million new ones?

40 million was already cut down from 80 mill. Can you not read?

Oh I'm reading but your numbers dont add up, not to mention you are expecting that nobody got theirs repaired and everyone who got rrod bought a new one.

Yes it did affect the total sales, but no where near to what you are saying.

The market expanded and so did the platforms. We probably won't get PS or PS2 numbers anymore with mobile and PC rising which cannibalizing some of the console market. The gaming industry overall as a whole is bigger but the console side hasn't changed much.

Another big reason last gen sold so much was because of hardware failure. Both PS3 and 360 sold around 80 million, give or take.

Xbox 360 > 80 million sold > 50% failure rate > 40 million sold in actuality

PS3 > 80 million sold > 10% failure rate > 72 million sold actuality

PS4 at over 40 million already after 2 years is amazingly successful which is neck and neck with 360 from it's 8 years lifespan.

I take it you weren't math/statistics major?

It's a bit sad that if enemies try to flank you it's already considered good AI.

But generally speaking Starcraft 2 actually has good AI, cpu is actually quite good at adapting

PS4K will probably use the upscaling technique similar to that of Xbox 360 w/1080p. It's pointless as most if not all 4K TV already does that automatically with content it displays.

There is quite big difference in the upscaling quality among 4K tv's tho, so having a good upscaler in ps4k wouldn't be bad thing to have

It's not bad to have but they seem to have it just so they could market the PS4 as a 4K console.

Hope they dont actually name it PS4K as that's quite misleading, but who knows they might actually do it

Its going to be a port. If the game exist on consoles first and its later made available on the PC they are porting the game. I know its common to consider ports to be bad but there are good ports. Being a good port doesn't make it less of a port just a good port.

That's wrong. They're making the game on PC, they already have a working PC version that was shown in the tech demos and they even played the Platinum Demo with game-pad that only works on PC's, thus even that demo is already working on PC. Many engines allow for parallel cross-platform development now-a-days, and it seems that the Luminous Engine is no different.

still the dev version on PC can be quite different from an actual release version

I expect Zen to be better than Intel's chips since they've been coasting for years, but 3-4x an 6/4 core i7 is obviously BS

It would be quite sad if it turned out to be worse in gaming vs skylake as it should be able to tie with intels next line for them to stand a chance..

Don't really care until I see how it stacks up in gaming benchmarks

Yeah that's the biggest thing, a 6700k wrecks my 2600k at so many things, yet for gaming, performance is almost identical hence me not upgrading.

Ye my gaming PC still sporting that too, been way more performance per money to just upgrade gpu's(considering id need new mobo+ram too), I do finally plan on letting 2600k go once thew new ones from amd/intel arrive

I do have linux installed at home but I never use it for gaming, games on steam do see more linux support these days tho, but its still far from being viable as single option.
