[QUOTE="Sphire"]i have heard of hacks that allow you to play xbox360 games on the ps3 o.O.
shroom76
think about it... the ps3 plays dvd's... xbox360 games are dvd roms... all you need to do is install the xbox360 os onto ps3.
which very easily and very illegally can be done since other operating systems can be installed on ps3.
but the fact that the ps3 can do that shows how truely inferior the 360 is, the ps3 can emulate it.
now you might think that it is logically possible, but it's rather not as games are encoded very differently, maybe launching xbox OS using linux but that needs more processing power and ram than the ps3 has.
but in hackers world everything is possible.

Blu-Ray discs are like $30-40 for a single disc, at 2x writing speed.
1. That's too much, you might as well by the game.
2. No one is going to sit there for that long as it writes 25gb of data at 2x speed.
moshakirby
bluray discs will get cheaper, and playing copied games will be throgh an iso loader( the game will be saved on the ps3's HDD)
well, i don't know about the bandwidth speed that you have but i have a connection of 8 megabits per second, my torrent speed goes up to 1MB/S.
i don't think that it would be hard for someone with such connection to download 25 gigs.
...ignorant and stupid.
Troll.
come on i thought we're having a civilized conversation here, anyway i think i proved my point.

This is ridiculous.
- You're wasting your breath. People are going to hack the PS3. There's nothing you or anybody can do about it. And in the long run, it might actually be a good thing. At the very least, it will bring weaknesses in the system's security to Sony's attention. At best, it may lead to innovations that can later be incorporated into an official firmware release.
- You're blowing the potential danger COMPLETELY out of proportion. Do you really think some customized software is going to de-rail a multi-billion dollar commercial edeavor? Do you really think Sony hasn't anticipated this sort of thing? The overwhelming majority of PS3 owners have neither the technical expertise nor the inclination to take advantage of weaknesses exposed by hackers.
- The word is LOSE. If you were to "loose" something, you would be setting it free to maul whomever is tresspassing on your property.
Read a book.Please_ThankYou
how is it a good thing if sony focuses on releasing security updates, they should focus on updating the firmware with new features.
if sony is losing( happy....??!!) money on the ps3 and they are BTW, they would turn there head to other projects.
i bet that you googled "loose" for a meaning huh, stop correcting my spelling ur not my 5th grade teacher.
That video with a supposed 'hack' was fake. There was no end outcome, just a black screen. Don't you think if someone actually hacked it, they would want to show the end result? Not just say, 'there is a code running but we can't show you'.
They are just lying to you.
LtColJaxson
I didn't say that it did get hacked, but running a modified update of resistance would mean that they're on to something.
there is a chance that this is fake but think if it isn't?
[QUOTE="hu24ebr"][QUOTE="djHaQ"]I would like a way to play my Japanese PS2 titles on my PS3....svenskamerikan
if you want play ps2 japanese on not japanese ps3, it is not going to be possible.
and if it happened it'll be through hacking it, which is as i said "no good".
buy yourself a japanese ps3.
Any why is it no good? Sony still makes money of japanese ps2 games.... You want them to make more than they should since you recommend the dude to buy another PS3? Sony has already "admitted" that regionfree is ok with the ps3 being regionfree so a mod would only "help" them allow this for ps2 games as well since they hadn't realized it at the time :)
i donnow why sony did the region locking thingy, i don't agree with it but a hacker won't stop on only that, if sony wants to unlock the ps3 to be region free ( for ps2 and ps1 ) they're gonna release it, they're not gonna wait for a hacker to do that.
there have been no ps3 hack ever, everything you see on the net are hoaxes.
and it does matter, if sony looses money on this, the company will try to gain money elswhere, they canmake us pay for PSN.
yeah it's possible. hopefully not.
