[QUOTE="cobrax25"]No, thats completely untrue. The only reason they are all called "Linux" is because they all use the Basic Linux Kernal, and are all Open-Source. However, this kernal, is over 15 years old, and has been completely reworked. and no, MACs still use UNIX, you can never stop using UNIX, you can modify it all you want, but its still their. You can still acces it through a MAC Just like DOS, is still the Core of Windows, despite the fact that since 1993, its been known as Windows, and not DOS. And yes, Linux Distrobution's vary, and work in many different ways..... For Example...Did you know that Cell Phones, PDA's, TIVO, and many other devices all use Linux?

I think we need to go back to your first reply to Captain Crazy as that's what I was trying to make a point on.
This is one situation where a monopoly benefits the industry and consumers as a whole. Imagine if there were many different operating systems to buy, it would be a compatibility nightmare for programs and hardware and for businesses.CaptainCrazy
No it would....Look at Linux OS's...tons of distributions yet the majority run on the same hardware, and can use the same programs. cobrax25
Basically what CC is saying if everything is Windows, then there would be no compatibility problems. And your reply was implying that Linux having different distributions can still run on same hardware and use the same software. What I'm saying is of course they could. It's because they're all still Linux regardless of the distribution.

Are you serious? Yes they're different distributions but the underlying OS is still the same - LINUX.

yes, but the underlying OS is open source, meaning that Its modified basically every time a new distribution is released. The Core code of Linux OS's, macs, and many others are still all the same (Unix) yet that doesn't mean they will run on the same hardware.

Have you seen a Linux that's been modified as much so that you can compare it to "Unix modified to become a MAC OS"?

what? Unix is an alternative to the original DOS. Much like DOS, is the framework behind Windows.... Unix is the framework to Linux, Macs, cell phones, and many other products. What you see when you look at a monitor, is simply a visual representation of DOS, or UNIX.

My point is the different distributions of Linux are still using Linux as its OS. That's why they can use the same programs as stated by CaptainCrazy. Then you start comparing it with Macs which you simply shouldn't. Its OS may have been derived from UNIX but with so much changes it's no longer called UNIX (whatever OS name MAC is using). Linux whether its distributed by RedHat, Debian etc. is still called Linux because it is what it is. Linux. There are no big changes to it that would make it no longer work on the same hardware and not run the same software.

Will you please practice your grammer then maybe I will answer you. A is a vowel and therefore if it come's before a word that starts with a vowel then a will be an so your title should be "Tom Clancy, an Ace Combat fan?". Your I's should also be capatalized. When I is used by itself then it should be capitalized. If you use it in a word like if or is then it is fine lower-case unless it is the first word in a sentence. Practice and I will answer your question.

unknown-phenom

What about if the word after the a/an starts with a consonant but sounding like a vowel?  For example "honest".  Do you say "a honest opinion" or "an honest opinion"? :-)

This game has been the 2nd Top Live Title on Major Nelson's for a while now so it can't be horrible. Anyway, it's now 3rd on the list. Just beaten by Crackdown.
