[QUOTE="iOverkill"][QUOTE="evildead6789"]If you don't assemble your self you can't use newegg. Then you can go with cyberpower. Where do i begin?ThaT-Masta

Alienware seems like a good choice to me, but i'm not sure if its the best though. I just thought that I would find a pretty good PC with a nice design then as time goes on and technology progress's that I could keep upgrading it myself. I didnt plan on creating one from top to bottom which would be really cool if I actually knew what I needed haha. Basically i'm just looking for a good brand that has a cool look and is easily upgradable or would it be a better idea to design my own from a website? By the way what is the best website to make custom computers anyways? I'm sorry I have been asking alot of questions, but I really appreciate you enlightening me on all this.

This + this and you'll be set for a few years.

And for a future upgrade just add another 570 and you'll be fine for a few more.

I was looking at this same cyberpower PC earlier. I would like to change the body style considering i'll keep upgrading it over the years but will this PC be able to play games like Crysis 2 without a problem?

this should be sufficent for all gaming

I took T Masta's advice and started checking out custom PC's from Cyber Power and your right, I can get twice the capabilities for the same price and i'll have more options for upgrade's in the future. Is Cyber Power a good choice to build a custom PC with?

The alienware is better for the following reasons

The alienware use the hd 5870 which is an very powerfull card. All cyberpower models use a card from the geforce 4 series which are known for their excessive heat output and power consumption. Not a good option when buying a laptop or buying a desktop for that matter.

The gtx 460 suffers less from this than the other 4 series but isn't as strong as the hd 5870. They do give sli options for this (two gtx 460 for double the power) but i think you will be in a different price range then (at least 300$) above your 2000$. If your willing to spend that much if would go for one of those cyberpower deals. But this is not a brand name, i've never heard of it , i don't know what the lifetime expectancy will be of these systems.

It will be a long time before you need to upgrade the alienware. The clock of the cpu is only 1.7 ghz but this is to save power the thing will boost to 2.93 ghz

The price range is not that different with the current systems. The 'coming soon' systems are somewhat cheaper though but they ship with a gtx 485 only .

The gtx 480 is known for being to noisy and beign too power hungy (it's the worst of all the 4 series). The gtx 485 is some derived mobile version from it , I shouldn't expect any big improvements on this since it's the same chipset.

I can look into some other manufacturers like acer or ibm but idon't know ifthey will gave the graphical power like an hd 5870.

Everything changes though if youwant a 15 inch screen, i only checked the 17 inch versions

Thanks for the input. Thats alot of facts I didnt know because obviously i'm not that knowledgable of the performances of some of these brands. Alienware seems like a good safe bet. I mean they're already have a good name and is backed by a respectable company like Dell. I've decided against a laptop now since I can buy a desktop with far greater capabilities than a laptop for around the same price, but I would like an Alienware PC that is good for upgrades considering i'm goin to be spending a little over two grand on it I want to be able to keep upgrading it instead of having to buy a whole new PC. Any suggestions?

I just scooted past the replies, I dont think there are to many laptop fans here I Would garner. Check out http://www.notebookreview.com in the discussion part which is there forums. They have sections for every known laptop brand and its heavily used site. I go there everyday for hours, its very wonderous website hehe. Sounds like alienware might be a bit more power under the hood then what you may think. You said something about wanting something to substitue an councel. Well I would suggest maybee an asus republic of gamers G series laptop, maybee a G73/1500$ or G53/1450$. You might also look at an MSI660r/1550$ or sager. The one I would reccomend with you with full confidence knowing its the best gaming laptop there is right now, which is a 15.6 inch sager np 8150 which can be bought from xoticpc. eycel
Thanks for the info bro, i'm going to check those out and see what the specs are like.

Doesn't sound like you need it for on the go, so I'm going to suggest you build a desktop pc.

I hate the hassel of always having to move a desktop, and a laptop seems more convenient because if I feel like playing a game at a friends house or somewhere else I wouldnt have to drag around a desktop with me.

Having double the performance at a lesser cost is worth having to carry a computer to a friends house a few times.

You can always get a nice case like the Lanboy air(which has carrying handles) to make it easier..

You make a good point. I'm kinda new to the PC world so i'm just looking for a computer that can run the highest specs on games and something thats worthy to keep updating its parts so a nice body style would be nice. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, and thanks for giving me some helpful ideas instead of being a **** and forcing your opinions on me. Thats much appreciated.

[QUOTE="eycel"]

I have been gaming on laptop since alienware brought its first line out. Alot of what the industry thinks about laptops and gaming has started to shift away from desktops being the only capable machines to play games on. Anyway this thread was to emphasize laptops as hardware capable of gaming. I have a few videos of my new laptop, the specs are listed below. This thread is not to discuss the differences and what makes what better between desktops and laptops, this thread is just for laptop fans that have questions regarding notebooks and gaming and or hardware.

Lenovo Ideapad Y460 • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 • 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz • 14.0" HD LED Glare 1366x768 • 500GB 5400 • DVD Recordable (Dual Layer) • ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB • Industry Standard Touchpad • 6 Cell Lithium-Ion

I realize probably every person on this forum section litterly hates laptops. I get so much flack from people who cant stand to even accept laptops can game at all. I have been in many altercations and verbal arguments over the matter. heh, I will say I have owned desktops also. If you want to check out how my laptop games on some new games check out http://www.youtube.com/notebookplayer.

I feel you. I just made a thread on what laptop I should buy because i'm semi new to the PC world and in my opinion laptops are way more convenient but all I want mine for is gaming. Basically like an upgraded console, but people keep telling me to buy a desktop instead. I just prefer laptops for convenience. You should check it out an give me some input since you seem way more knowledgable on the subject haha.
