I don't see the hype about battlenet. Steam and xfire already do those things. The presenter introduces account persistent achievements...the crowd starts cheering, little decals you can put on your units...the crowd starts cheering, cross-game friends lists...the crowd starts cheering, avatars...the crowd starts cheering,etc...cmon

[QUOTE="ignivim"][QUOTE="KHAndAnime"] If Company of Heroes was really all that great, it'd have 10x the player base of Starcraft. Not the other way around.mudman91878

The only people that play Starcraft anymore are Korean cause it's like a national sport there so they won't change to any other game. There's like MAYBE a few hundred non-koreans on at a time and those are the ultra hardcore people.

Do you enjoy making things up? Do you just pray nobody will call you out on your BS?

I play starcraft regularly on bnet and there are tons of non-koreans playing. Since it's clear you don't play starcraft how the FFFFF can you claim to know who's online playing?

The game was/is more popular than all other rts games because of the gameplay and balance.

There has yet to be an rts game that has 3 (or more) races who are as diverse as the three in starcraft and yet be so perfectly balanced.

Um, calm down? Yes, most of the people that still play Starcraft are indeed Korean. I just went into 3 different games (in the US gateways) and in 2 of them the group of people in the game were speaking in Korean with eachother. Most of the other people speak in very broken english.

ps: Do you enjoy making things up? Do you just pray nobody will call you out on your BS? (see how easy not using actual arguements is?).

[QUOTE="ignivim"] Never argue with fanboys...and is it really necessary to use that many emoticons? Mograine

Never argue with clueless bashers, do you really have to waste people's time with your heavily flawed and mostly meaningless arguments?

And 95% of those are Koreans where Starcraft is it's national sport and they would never change and go to another game (other then a sequel) because they are too accustomed to it by now or afraid of change. ignivim

Koreans play over LAN emulators because of how their national network is built.

Whatever, you're so clueless this is almost getting comic.

Um that's why whenever I join a game, 95% of the time they don't speak English? Seriously, LOL@ calling Starcraft more impressive than CoH, I'm done here. I've had this argument a ton of times, not gonna bother again.

[QUOTE="ignivim"][QUOTE="KHAndAnime"] Not at all. There's much more than a few hundred American players. And even so, Company of Heroes online rarely has more than a handful of games going on at a time.pvtdonut54

Lol what? I just checked right now and even on a friday during work hours, there's 6877 people online with 5768 players playing a game.

Wow, this is completely false.

I just took this crummy screenshot.

What are you talking about?

[QUOTE="ignivim"]

Do you even think about what you write? Koreans didn't make Starcraft their national sport without a reason, you know?

Starcraft is still one of the most played games at almost every LAN party, and there's still A LOT of people playing it even on dedicated LAN emulators, and this is 11 years after its release. Wonder how it was in its first years.

[quote="ignivim"]Exactly. It's cause of people like them that Blizzard is able to milk stuff for cash so much. Starcraft 2 with no LAN, no co-op and DRM that's also split into 3 games (before you say it's for the single-player that's gonna be really long, you're gonna be forced to buy expansions for MULTI-PLAYER because they will add new units for it that you can only get if you buy the expansions, so no, it's not just for single-player), $40 to watch blizzcon online, etc and the fanboys never complain, in fact most of them actually defend Blizz for doing those things.Mograine

Hahahaha. Amazing :D I've never seen such an enormous pile of steaming cluelessness in a single post :lol:

While I disagree with their LAN move, their reasons are understandable from an objective point of view - people was pirating it A LOT using the LAN feature, and they lost a lawsuit because of this, no wonders they want some payback. They also said they would add a LAN feature through B.net, even though I'm dubious about how will it turn out.

Co-op? In a RTS like SC? Have you even played the original game :D ?
The DRM they want to use is one of the least intrusive DRM seen in a long while, so I don't really understand what you're talking about.

The game split in 3...DoW is split in 4 games, why has noone ranted about it and so many are comparing the two?
Let me guess, you probably didn't even wonder why they want to add two expansion packs :D .

Blizzcon online is utter crap, only people who really wants to see it actually pays, news will arrive to others one way or another, this isn't an even remotely valid argument either.

The bashers always complain even if they don't have a remote idea of what they're talking about, in fact most of them actually offend Blizzard for doing those thing while they don't know their reasons and shouldn't even care :lol:

@jiggly

Of course one would prefer a new game with prettier graphics if he didn't know a genre, it's normal. When you start to get interested to the gameplay, though, it's a whole different story.

Never argue with fanboys...and is it really necessary to use that many emoticons?

I've just checked right now and there's about 30k people playing over 11k playing a game.

Now sir, I'm pretty sure you're pulling your statement literally out of your backside.

And 95% of those are Koreans where Starcraft is it's national sport and they would never change and go to another game (other then a sequel) because they are too accustomed to it by now or afraid of change.

he fanatic fanboys who fail to believe that the genre hasn't evolved from the starcraft formula. ...One thing to note boys, blizzard fanboys are something else (Can be really fanatical : Which means everygame blizzard makes is better no matter how outdated it's system is/was)

[QUOTE="omenodebander"]

the exact reason why I dislike the game? The fanatic fanboys who fail to believe that the genre hasn't evolved from the starcraft formula. The game was good at the time, but now? everything it did and started = outdated. To call starcraft a better game than say, company of heroes, Dawn of war 2, even command and conquer 3 is just plain laughable. Sure it was balanced, sure the three races were unique, today, there are tons of other rts with more unique and diverse gameplay options than what starcraft had to offer. One thing to note boys, blizzard fanboys are something else (Can be really fanatical : Which means everygame blizzard makes is better no matter how outdated it's system is/was)

3. That 10 year old game is still the most impressive RTS the industry has to offer.

1carus

LOL, says who? Starcraft is not impressive anymore AT ALL. Want proof? Have someone who hasn't played it play a modern RTS, like Company of Heroes. Then have them play Starcraft. Tell me if they tell you they found Starcraft "impressive". Of course you, a fanboy, would say that though. The only thing good about Starcraft is the balance between the races.
