@AlienMinator: Are you sure you had pacifist mode on? I have it on and other players can’t hurt me unless I break the law like lockpick their camp doors.
Also, when you die, you don’t loose your caps, or your equipment. You can loose your junk if someone gets to it first.
I think that games can affect people who can't separate the artificial world of playing a game to reality. Like what a lot of you have stated that you know you couldn't just randomly start killing people in real life as easily as in a game, because you know it is wrong and your system of balancing your emotions works. The ones to watch out for are the people who do not see the difference between playing a game and killing people and doing it in real life. The media likes to place the blame on the games rather than go into the persons background who committed such vile acts to see if there was any warning signs that this person was unstable BEFORE they played those games.
This article is flawed due to the author not doing enough research on the companies he mentions. For one thing, all three of these companies have a huge investment in their products and have contingent plans in case things don't go their way. Nintendo is the oldest player in this industry that still makes a console. Sega, bowed out and just makes software now. Nintendo might misstep on the Wii U, but I wouldn't count them out. They have been through the videogame crash in the 80's. Sony, who also has a lot riding on this industry, has a lot of talent in making good systems, but has issues with developers harnessing the full potential for their technology. It's a double edged sword, one one hand, games that come out during the first year or two don't take full advantage of their hardware, but on the other hand, the games that come out later are phenomenal. Microsoft is finally making money on the Xbox, and seeing that they aren't as popular as they were with Windows, they will use the Xbox, to claw their way back to convince the consumer that they need a Windows PC along with their Xbox. They still have lots of cash and aren't afraid of burning it up. Don't be surprised if you don't see any new Xbox or PS consoles released for another year or two. This economy needs to stabilize before they would release a new expensive console. The Wii U needs to come out and better be a hit or else Nintendo will be forced to ramp up the successor to the U.
