Wait.. of those 2 laptops.. are they only sungle core 2.0's? I mean I don't understand. I was always told duel cores and quad cores were the way to go or whatever. Does the i5 or i7 name mean it's better or something?

These are all really good offers. I'll need to check back though in a few months when I have the cash and see.

Sorry double post. I've always wondered the difference between processors tho.. like i5, i7, all that jazz. I learned my old 2.8ghz processor in my desktop is somehow not as fast/good as my newer 1.5ghz processor in my laptop. Both are AMD, one is jute from 2008 and the other from 2011. So meh? Idk maybe you guys can explain what it all means.

Interesting so far. Did you mean that card can play most games at medium? Or that laptop?

Within the next few months after starting college, I want to spend some of my financial aid on upgrading my laptop. My current works but it's no good for really anything. It has all the best technology it seems, but the reason it was only 500 bucks was because it has a piddly little single core 1.5ghz processor. It's like a lamborghini with a lawnmower engine. So yeah, time to upgrade to gaming.

I looked around but I'm lost. I looked at alienware but they run 1k for something basic and the screens are tiny. With toshiba I had to look at the "everyday computing" catagory because their "gaming" lineup started at like 1,200. HP had a lot of the same ones listed as Toshiba, just with a different label, but their reccomended set ups were over 1,400.

I mean when they offer customization, I like to pick a cheaper one and give it a lot of highend things to see if it can become compareable to their basic level high-end ones for a lower price. It just frustrates me because I wanna make the right choice. Maybe you guys know of some brands of laptops I've never looked into that offer cheaper prices, or maybe you could offer your know-how and help me spot out what hardware is worth having and what isn't.

The goal isn't to have it capable of running crysis, but I'd love to be able to play most of what's out there with no lag or anything, though. Maybe some of the higher end popular MMOs aswell. If such a desire is gonna run me like 2 grand then idk, maybe the ability to run most of what was out there a couple of years ago. It was just shocking how many things lagged on my computer that looked easy to run.

But yeah, I hope you all can help.
