It was a Super Nintendo RPG, done somewhat similar to Secret of Mana. I can't remember much about it though, except that it reminded me of Secret of Mana.
It's done in the same birds-eye-view, but when you go into battle, it's more like Final Fantasy 3 where it goes into a different screen for combat. Then you issue your orders from a menu. I'm not sure if it was more like Final Fantasy (where the background changed) or like Chrono Trigger (same battle system, except combat took place in the game world instead of transitioning).
Anyway, it was very anime-style. Youre this kid. I don't remember the story AT ALL. But you're looking for something. Along the way, you meet a girl, and you meet a robot. I remember in battle, you have to deploy the robot. So you have to spend one of your turns just turning on the robot to fight for you. Sometimes it didn't deploy. Also, I remember one of the dungeons, it was in a haunted house, or a underground tomb of somesorts.
For some eerie reason, I suddenly can remember a lot of the game's great soundtrack. I can only "see" like 1 or 2 "Screenshots" of the game in my mind, but some of the game's soundtrack comes very clearly in my mind. It had great music, that's the most I can remember.
No, it wasn't:
Final Fantasy (none of them in any form)
Chrono Trigger
Illusion of Gaia
Secret of Mana
Thanks
