That's true. But most mid-range cards don't utilise the 16X PCI-E bus well, so 8X is good enough. But it's different for high end cards.Cyborg-21

if you have your motherboard manual it should list all supported CPU's

Also you could probably check your motherboard manufactures website and get it there.
