@04dcarraher: which is an ancient sig :P
i7 is at default, im against cpu overclocking
aight so im in a bit of a spot and wanted to come for advice, as my pc is starting to wear herself a bit then and replacing parts is something i can no longer afford to really put off if i wish to continue gaming at the level to which i have become accustomed. the sad reality is that parts are expansive and my local market of sellers are cut throats so heres the decision i have come too in this regard having done some shopping around used and finding finally something at least malleable.
my current system is as follows:
core i7 870 asus ATX board
gskill ripjaw ddr3-1333 (8gb)
CM hyper 212+ cooler
gtx 680 windforce OC'd by a little bit of core and a little bit of memory i can bring up clock speeds if it prooves relevant
ocz 650 watt psu (so power isnt really an issue here)
so heres what ive come across in my digging through the scrapyard, the is a time sensitive issue so keep that in mind and currently i can really only afford one of the following:
i found a used pc i could easily gut for parts, replace my cpu, ram and baord with the following:
core i5 3540
ASUS brand name motherboard (the owner hasnt listed it)
pickup an extra 500gb HDD taking me over the 1tb mark finally
upgrade to 12gb, its not really a practical upgrade but its what they have and its 12800 speed hyper x so its not like i have better lying around
replace the graphics card:
r9-380x msi strix model
now its entirely possible i have another opportunity at a graphics card but a cpu upgrade is a long time coming and replacing it will be a lot harder, id like to have my changes done before november
for a long time now we have not had a proper conduit for the 40,000 tabletop on pc. and today we are finally getting that. announced today by slitherine studios (deadliest warriors, warhammer 40,000: space wolf (ios), warhammer: end times: vermintide) we have warhammer 40,000: sanctus reach. sanctus reach was a miniature campaign for 40,000 held last year that told the story of an epic battle between the imperial forces and the orks and it has a little bit of everything, orks with killsaws, crazy dragon named men with wild looking faces in a frenzy, giant undead walkers of murder death, legendary mountains named by people who should never be allowed to name things ever again (seriously who names a mountain the "pillar of light"?)
this will be a direct 1-1 conversion of the 40,000 core rules in a turn based game based on the missions found in the sanctus reach campaign box, pictured here:
http://pro.bols.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Stormclaw-contents1.jpg?56750f
it will also feature some from the extended mission pack so you can play with things not in the box all the way up to the heroic battle of gerantius the ghost knight, who is perhaps the coolest giant walking machine ever to be given a plastic model:
the game is going to be a pc exclusive:

evolve is a p2p game not a server based game, so its harder to gauge im going to say that largely the game is empty probably under 100 players regularly
ended up going with the commander, im thinking that in 3 months time ill also be replacing my cpu but we will discuss that bridge when we come to it, thanks people
i love how people shit on it when the 1st major patch hasnt happened yet.
at any rate anyone who was expecting some revolutionary step in gpu design and preformance here should have probably been ordered to take their gpu's out of their pc, smash them with a hammer and sign a legally binding document never to play pc games again. you should know by now that AMD isnt the leader in anything and cant be, they lack the funds and the resources. get bodied there pal
so im replacing my case, my antec 900 has had an unfortunate accident and sadly no longer is fit for active duty, she is being retired and sent to that big recycling center across town. now comes the part where i explain that she will need to be replaced. im looking at replacing her but on a budget, heres what im looking at right now, keep in mind that im shopping local to support local buisnesses and because its literally down the road from where i live, so it would be silly quick to acquire:
CM k280
Tt g41 commander
corsair carbide spec-10
corsair carbide 200r
medival 2: total war
