I'd say Tribes Ascend doing what it takes to get a blue plate is soooo satisfying

OB-47

this.

i've been playing the beta and its so satisfying, though the sentinel is overpowered a bit. while i love quake and ut, i think tribes is a much better overall game. its the only fast paced shooter in which i've seen a lot of teamwork.

Teamwork? I've seen f*** all when it comes to teamwork. It's just, everyone get the flag sorta thing.

it usually depends on who you are teamed up with. all my teammates usually seem to be pretty competent

And if everyone thought the opposite, we'd have few good games.

xYamatox

Yes.... because getting thousands of FPS every year is the best.....

Most of the best games ever created in the industry are in fact sequels.

Ocarina of Time

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Final Fantasy VII (not my favorite, but it's the most popular FF game made)

Chrono Cross

Diablo 2

Arkham City

Soul Calibur (sequel to Soul Edge)

Morrowind

Warcraft 3

Half-Life 2

Portal 2

Team Fortress 2

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Battlefield 2

Witcher 2

Need I go on..? If every one of these devs made something new every time, we'd be denied some of the best games in the industry. So yes, sticking to what you know and being successful is much better than doing something you're bad at, and possibly failing.

proof? while some of these are true, many people prefer witcher 1 to witcher 2, team fortress classic to team fortress 2, half life 1 is obviously better than 2 (especially when you look at the impact it had). and i prefered super mario galaxy 1. also i thought ocarina was the first zelda in 3d, basically making it totally different from all of the other ones and therefore the first in the line of 3d zeldas games. just because you say those games are the best doesnt make it true, many people have differing opinions on the subject and none are necessarily right when it comes to what is best.

also i could make the counter argument that we are denied the best games because devs and publishers arent willing to take chances on ideas that could be goldmines. also here is a quote by edison

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

just because a game flops because it is experimental doesn't mean it was a failure except in the sales department.

the game needs WAY more enemies. i hate going through a dungeon and fighting the same crap over and over again. it really makes the experience very stale for me. however, i think gameplay wise its amazing and while smithing and enchanting are broken, you can always choose to not use them.

Battlefield is definitely the most tactical and skill based FPS besides maybe Arma(have not played it) and such.

NaveedLife

if you think battlefield is the most tactical and skill based FPS you definitely have not played many FPS. try Swat 4, rainbow six 3 and the expansions, tfc, and tribes just to name a few

Scripted events are being phased out slowly, but you guys really dont understand how hard it is to make a truely dynamic game. There are so many things that can go wrong and break the game, just look at the first STALKER game. it was nice in concept, but very rough around the edges. Also check out games like x3, the game is totally dynamic, however as it turns out, having all these non scripted AI and events takes lots of processing power and can make great cpus slow to a crawl. plus, now that games are all going for the "cinematic" feel (lol, if i wanted a movie, i would watch a movie, but thats not the point) scipted events make sense, especially in a game like CoD, where its all about cinematics. scripted events arent going anywhere, and shouldnt go anywhere now (but they might be eventually) because they allow the developer to make cool looking events, without having to do too much more programming.

There's a 14 day free trial, it's nothing like any Star Wars game, I think it's gameplay (in combat) is horrible at best. Extremely tedious/time consuming as well.Inconsistancy

the gameplay, while in space, is still an rpg type of gameplay. the learning curve is super high and the leveling up system is really different from most games. u should try the free trial, but really, it will feel like u havent gotten anywhere. i think u should try x3 terran conflict (the new x game is coming out soon). it has the flight mechanics of a game like wing commander, freespace 2 and x wing alliance, however it has a really open galaxy where u can do whatever you want. it is singleplayer only however, but i think u might like it

when u aim for something and you go past it all the time, lower the settings. if you aim for something and you dont reach it, raise the settings. keep on doing this, till when u aim at something the cursor lands on them most of the time (try a stationary target to aim at)
