Why am I in LA?

Well my summer of hard work is mostly over, I had a good time planting this year. Made a decent amount of money. My best day was 4140 trees at $0.14 per tree, so roughly $580 profit for one day of work (although taxes raped me).

ButnowIaminLA,doingatradeshowhere, selling a cash counting machine. It is quite a fancy little device, how else can you count a full till in under a minute. As anyone who has had to balance a till before, it can take quite a while to do by hand.

Final Final

So tomorrow morning I write my final final (excuse the bad grammar, it was
intentional). So seeing as i have an exam tomorrow and don't particularily
want to study right now, I am honing my fine skill of wasting time. Although
I am running out of things that I can waste time doing. So far I have
checked digg, reddit, slashdot, my rss feeds, and my email this fine
evening. This is my last ditch effort to draw out the inevitable, after this fine
post I shall have to open my textbook, I will have run out of excuses
(because I can't justify playing video games right now).

As well I hate being the person in our family who has to fix anything
related to computer problems. For example:

Dad: 'Trevor, my internet isn't working'
Trevor: 'Have you tried resetting the router and modem and rebooting your
 computer?'
Dad: 'No'
Trevor: 'Then why are you calling me, I just walked out of cl@ss to answer
this because I thought it was important. EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU
CALL I  TELL YOU THE SAME THING, WHY CAN'T YOU
BE PRE-EMPTIVE AND TRY IT BEFORE CALLING ME.'
Dad: 'But I thought that maybe it was something different this time'
Trevor: *click*

or here is another fine example from today no less:

Brandon (my older brother): 'Say Trevor, do you know why my mouse goes
all jittery sometimes when I am doing ________'
Trevor: [sarcasm] Oh yes, its becuase the modulating index on the signal
being transmitted from your mouse to your USB port has been reduced
and thus you are encountering electromagnetic interference from your
speakers [/sarcasm] NO OF COURSE NOT, YOU LIVE OVER
3000 KM AWAY. HOW IN THE HELL WOULD I KNOW
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR MOUSE. *click*

why-o-why does GS not like the word c-l-a-s-s.

well it would appear as though I have managed to drag this out for quite
some time. Time to start studying. (note: the whole bit inside the sarcasm
section is because I am studying for my final in electronic communications
 systems)

EDIT: GS seems to want to do fun things to the formatting, guess it doesn't
 like opera.

Personality Types

So today we had someone from the counseling section of the college come and talk to us today on different personality types and how this affects us in the workplace. What a load of BULLSH!T. This woman actually thought that people could be defined in little boxes and that all of our decisions were based on how much we fit on one side or the other of a scale.

Apparently I qualify as an introverted, sensing, thinking and judgemental
individual. WTF does that mean. We were supposed to answer a bunch of
questions about how we felt and reacted in certain situations. So this
means that I am supposedly unable to do certain things according to her
little boxes. According to the constraints that she would like to put on
everyone, I am incapable of Feeling, or Intuition, or even Perceiving. As a
cl@ssmate of mine said, 'go to hell'

It was a waste of time because no-one in the whole engineering department
took it seriously other than her. Not even our profs cared what we did. We
were supposed to split into groups and determine our group weaknesses and
what kind of person we should add to our group to improve its dynamics. We
said we needed a dwarf, and that one of our strengths was body mass.

This will be providing a source of jokes for the next few weeks before exams
take their toll.

Dodgeball is over

Unfortunatly dodgeball has ended for the season. Now my Tuesdays are going to suck, because it has the worst lineup of classes/prof's.

Yesterday we had the playoffs and we came in 4th, although it was close, both times we lost it was to the best two teams and they won 4-3 (it was a double knockout). Although I won the award for the most sportsmanlike player. So when we went to Kelly O'Brians after the final game I got a free shot glass etched with "KSSC Dodgeball MOST SPORTSMANLIKE Winter '07" (and a shot to go with it). Lets just say there was more than one person walking home last night, at least there was enough of us who know when to stop and keep it under control. Dodgeball was the highlight of my week, now what am I going to do?

Here is a picture of our dodgeball logo embroidered onto my shorts along with my new shot glass that shall get added to the collection of glasses at home.

I got my exam schedule for finals that are coming up. I have 5 finals, thankfully there is a day between each of them. Although what pisses me off is that our exams get done on the 16th of May, where as everyone else is done mid April. For some reason the program I am in goes an extra month for some reason.

As well I apparently made way too much money last year as I am getting very little back for taxes, considering I payed over $3,000 in taxes and am going to school I get all of a whoppin $1,000 back from that cut-throat, backstabbing organization called 'Revenue Canada'. And because I made over $24,000 I now have to pay medical and other crap, THIS SUCKS.

I think that in a while I shall head out and  pick up Oblivion for my ps3. I would have gotten it a while back for my pc, but it can't handle it. If I had walked into the same room with it as my comp, I wager it would have sprouted wings to get away.

*looks up* Holy crap i just wrote lots. "And remember, not every ball can be caught or dodged"

I gotsa PS3

The title sums it up fairly well, not much more needs to be added to that statement. It means exactly what it says.

I was looking at my current funds and realized that I had a nice tax refund coming my way shortly, and then it hit me, I had some extra cash. Well needless to say, my desire for a PS3 has been sated. And with mid-terms just finished (sort-of) I decided to reward myself with a gift. Currently I have 'Resistance: Fall of Man' and am looking to get:
Tekken, Oblivion and Rainbow Six (of which the second two are not out yet). If anyone wants to play a game or something, send me a pm or an email.

As for anything else to add in here ... nope, not really. That about sums everything up (I think).

Take that GlitchSpot

Thats right, GlitchSpot, I 'pwned' you. Level 20 has gone by the wayside, no longer shall i tread in the realm of the metal slime, I have progressed beyond that, for I am now a bearer of the lofty title of "Rescue Ranger" (anyone else remember the rescue rangers).

As for other things happening in the world, lets see, I have taken up playing tennis (along with dodgeball). Today is the first official day of reading break, which is a mixed blessing, because we have a sh!tload of assignments and stuff to do. And to top it all off, for every other program this is the middle point of the semester, where as for us electrical engineers, we have a longer semester so as it stands it is only like 35-40% over (ARGH).

Anime: The new naruto (Naruto Shippuuden, or something like that) is good, finally all that filler is done. I just watched Trinity Blood, that was good. Recently started watching Death Note, now that is an interesting one, a guy finds a notebook that can kill people by having names written in it.

Oh and I almost forgot, today was value village's 50% off sale, so that was a good time, found some unique stuff, such as: an old fashioned ice-cream maker (my mom knows how to use it), Super beach volleyball (for the NES), clothes, several books, and various other stuff.

Level from Hell

Wonder if that title is "innapropriate", oh well.

I am curious as to what the deal is with this ridiculous level 20, I don't like to concern myself with the levels, but is nice to see a new rank every once and a while (the names are intirguing). I have stayed at 20 for quite some time now and it seems to go even slower towards the end, who is rigging the system and what purpose do they have in it.

In other news I started a dodgeball team. Some of my classmates and I were lamenting our lack of physical activity as of late, so we looked into what rec leagues there were that we could join, and as soon as I saw dodgeball, I knew we had to join. Our team name "NADS", just think of the cheer "GO NADS" (the looks we get are great). None of us had played dodgeball since elementry school (a long time ago) and were in for a suprise, it is a really fast paced game, and you can have some interesting strategies - that work too.

I am terrible at keeping a regular update on my life, so consider this the one post for a long time (or until I notice the blog thing again)

Movies (for really cheap)

So today I discovered a little place in the city I live in called "cinematic" and it is a little movie rental place that rents out movies for $1, yep, no strings attatched, you simply go there, punch in the movie you want, the machine spits it out and if you return in within 6 hrs it is $1 and 12 hrs = $2.49. The reason it is so cheap is that it is all a machine and a card, you simply swipe your card, choose your movie and away you go, no sales person, nobody there to have to pay minimum wage, no overhead.

You can reserve movies online and simply have to go and pick them up. This is the perfect thing for someone like me who isnt willing to pay big bucks to rent a movie, and will return in a short time anyway. With this system it doesnt even pay to download movies..... i mean..... ignore that statement.

Unfortunatly, according to their website there are only a few of these around and all of them in Canada.

SBut peech functionality in windows

to day I discovered how to make my Computer recognize my voice using my microphone . Now I am using this to speak and record this right now.

It actually works quite well. The only thing that I'm going to complain about it is that, unfortunately punctuation is difficult to insert properly. As well it is difficult for the computer to recognize certain words. But I find it works best to speak a large segment of words and finish my sentence before it manages to catch up.  suppressing Lee it works way better when I speak a full sentence instead of single words here and there.

The it has some functionality at recognizing terms like backspace and go to the next line. unfortunately I have not managed to figure out how to make it didn't eat several words or large sections at once. As you can see in the previous line it was supposed to say E. D. E. ten no that is wrong detail D. E. L. E. T. E. detained Deaton D. eight.

I find this to be quite amusing and fun for everyone. Now it is much easier for me to relax that the computer using only the mouse and the microphone no more leaning forward to use the keyboard.

Fishing

My older brother is home for about a week or so, and this weekend (friday-monday) we are going to go camping and spend the whole weekend fishing. The lake we are going to is only fly fishing, nothing else, only flies. So today I was up at the lake setting up tents so no-one takes that general area, and we manage to keep a large section of the bush to ourselves with no-one else around. While there I was talking to an elderly gentleman who has fished there for 20 years and found out what the good flies are to use on this lake (as each lake is different).

Hopefully this weekend I can catch a few good sized trout.

And catching back up in the MoL is going to be a bugger.
